All courses are on Skye using a variety of venues determined by the weather.

A few last minute opportunities. These are likely to be the last time I will be running this sort of paddling week due to changing career plans.
2-6 August - Skye day trips week. Day trips with coaching along the way. £400
14-15 August - Sea kayak leader assessment £220
16-20 August - Wild camping trip, Skye. £450
23-26 August - Skye day trips or expedition (to be determined by the first person to book) £400/£450

I have some short-notice availability on a five day camping trip 31 May-4 June. This 5 day, 4 night expedition will be in the Loch Ailort / Ardnamurchan area with the exact itinerary to be determined by the weather. This will be a gently paced expedition, suitable for paddlers who have not camped from their kayak before or those with little camping experience. The trip is fully catered and will be led by me. You will need to be self sufficient in paddling and camping equipment, though food, stoves and fuel are provided. Cost is £400.

Camping trip anyone? I have places available on a 5 day Skye wild camping trip. 17-21 May (probably no midges). 5 days paddling, 4 nights camping exploring some of the most beautiful coastline in the country. Exact route to be decided when we have a weather forecast (and I just might be being a bit optimistic about the midges, but they are not here yet). £400

May 10-14 Advanced (ish) water week. 5 day trips in different parts of Skye, coaching along the way. Could be an opportunity to complete the Coastal sea kayak award if you wish. Could also include leadership training. £400
May 17-21, Skye wild camping week. Exact location to be decided when we have a weather forecast, but Sleat, the Cuillin, Soay the Viking Canal are all possibilities. 5 days paddling, 4 nights wild camping. £400

Sea kayak leader assessment, 10 April, Skye.
I have just had one place become available on this assessment. Travel for an assessment is allowed if you require the qualification for your work or volunteering. Assessment will take place in one day so that no one needs accommodation.

26th April brings the reopening of accommodation and relaxation of travel restrictions. Here are a few paddling opportunities that may whet your appetite for a season of adventures.
26/27 April - celebrating a return to travel, lets blow the cobwebs away, and remember how fun lumpy water can be. 2 days of paddling and coaching looking for some adventure. £170
1/2 May - Advanced sea kayak leader training (2 places available) £220
3-7 May - Moderate water week, 5 wonderful trips, all in different locations, coaching along the way. Skills a bit rusty? This might be the week for you. (4 places available) £400
10-14 May - Advanced (ish) water week. Lets push our skills and go looking for some up and down action. Obviously we're all out of practice, so nothing too ferocious. (2 places left) £400
17-21 May - Skye camping week. Wild camping in stunning locations as we journey along. Let's go camping before the midges have sharpened their teeth. £450

Is anyone looking for a Coastal Navigation and Tidal Planning course or an Open Water Navigation course in the near future?These are prerequisites for the Sea Kayak Leader assessment and Advanced sea kayak leader assessment and also usefull for paddlers who are planning their own trips.
Courses will be provided on Skye and delivered in a Covid safe manner. Currently these are only appropriate for paddlers from level 1 and 2 areas though I hope this will change in the future.
If you are interested, please let me know which course you need and which weekend days you could manage in January and I will get courses organised.

Night nav in the north of Scotland starts at about 4 o'clock in the afternoon. Here's a group of advanced sea kayak leader trainees just about to stop and put lights on. Once again, Skye provides great entertainment.

March 15-19, Moderate Water Week £400 (FULL)
March 22-26, Another Moderate Water Week
This 5 day course is appropriate for paddlers working towards the Coastal Sea Kayak Award or Sea Kayak Leader or just want to improve skills and confidence in moderate water conditions
March 20-21, Sea Kayak Coach Training £220
This is the discipline specific training for paddlers who have completed the core coach training and wish to coach in the moderate sea environment.
April 10-11, Sea Kayak Leader Assessment £220
