Great news! Entries for our Tavistock Relays 2026 event, sponsored by James Armstrong Physio and dartprint ltd., are now open. Running clubs and local businesses (plus any grouping of four running buddies) across the region can register their 4-person teams for Junior, Ladies and Men's relay races. There's also a 1.1 mile fun race for the youngsters. All teams must be entered by the 15th July at 6pm - no on-the-day entries will be accepted. There is a maximum of 80 teams per race and we always get a massive turnout. So don't delay in getting your entries registered! Full details and entry form on our webpage:

IMPORTANT: New restrictions covering younger runners in our monthly Tavy 5k. This is a long post but we need to provide some context. The headlines first:

- Children under the age of 11 on the day of each race are not permitted to run in any circumstances.

- Under 18s (age 11 upwards) are permitted to run but only with the written permission of a parent or legal guardian.

The Tavy 5k is governed by UK Athletics rules which are designed to ensure high standards and, crucially, insurance cover. Each year we have to apply for a licence to stage the event in order to demonstrate we are complying with the rules and guidance.

We have just obtained a new licence which covers each of the races from June 2026 to May 2027. In doing so we have discovered that we have not been fully compliant in one or two areas. As a result we have to announce the two important changes noted above.

Some other events, not governed by UKA rules such as Parkrun do allow under 11s to participate but a UKA licenced event does not.

On Saturday, for runners aged 11-18 where the parent or guardian is in attendance, we will provide consent forms to be completed before the race. Alternately, where the parent/guardian is not attending, the young runner should bring a signed letter incorporating the following words: "As the parent or legal guardian of the person named above who is aged under 18, I hereby give my consent to them running in today's and future Tavy 5k events"

We understand the disappointment of any U11 runners now unable to take part but there is absolutely nothing we can do to change this ruling.
