Welcome to Tavistock Hockey Club
We are a friendly club welcoming players of all ages with any level of experience & ability. Whether you’re picking up a stick for the first time or you’ve been playing for years, there’s a place for you in our club. We have a men’s team, two women’s teams and a thriving junior section. Anyone interested in giving hockey a go is welcome to come along to a training session and you can contact us using the Messenger link.
Introduction
We are a community club based at the pitch opposite Mount Kelly College, Tavistock. We hold training on Thursdays and Tuesdays (details below). The club provides England Hockey qualified coaching. Our adult teams compete in West Hockey Open Leagues and we enter a mixed team in the Plymouth Summer League. Our sociable Match teas are held at the Market Inn, Tavistock. We welcome any interested hockey players to come and join us at a training session and learn more about our club and what we have to offer.
Men’s Team
Tavistock Hockey Club Men play in West Hockey, Piran Division 2. Junior players over the age of 13 are permitted to play for the men’s team in this league; at our club boys with appropriate skills and strength are invited to train with and play for our team with support from experienced adult players. We would love to hear from interested new players, regardless of age or experience. Training is Thursdays 19:30-21:00.
Ladies’ Teams
Following our highly successful merger of Tavistock Ladies with the ladies of Launceston Hockey Club, our two ladies’ teams play as Tavistock and Launceston Ladies in West Hockey, Division 2 South and Trelawney Division 2. It’s a great time to be part of the growing and successful Ladies’ squads. Training is on Tuesdays 19:00-20:30.
Juniors
Our Junior Section’s ethos is based on fun, inclusivity and sportsmanship. There is a mixed u10 team plus boys and girls u12 and u14 teams as well as a girls u16 team. The juniors train on Thursdays and play matches at Friday Night Hockey at Plymouth Marjons as well as Sunday festivals and some local leagues. Individual teams are managed by Parent Managers using a no-pressure approach and an aim to make hockey fun.
Umpires
The club is passionate about supporting anyone who wishes to develop their umpiring skills.
