Season Awards 🏆

After another brilliant season representing Tavistock, the Titans handed out their seasons awards at training last night!

Our most improved player was . Kaya came up through and has been a consistent presence and great teammate from the get go.

Kaya’s defensive ability and ‘floor general’ status make this award a well earned one!!

Our Defensive Player of the Year was . Tom has been Tavistock’s defensive anchor for years now and this year was no different.

His rim protection, defensive rebounding and pure effort defensively secured the trophy.

Our Most Valuable Player award went to . Lewis’ shooting helped Tavistock stay in games throughout the season, Lewis also led the team in assists.

Additional shoutouts to:
- team leader in scoring and runner up MVP.
Luke McClung - Our number one guard defender all year long
George Conybeare - Who’s improvement defensively has meant he has been promoted to ‘guard defender’ (although I’m not sure he wanted that title 😰😰😰)

🏀 Season Finale – Tavistock Loss

Coming into the second playoff game of the year, Tavistock held a 1–0 aggregate lead, meaning everything was on the line in this decisive matchup.

From the very start, this one was chippy, physical, and competitive. Panthers leaned on their big man and their experienced national league player, while the Titans did what they’ve done all season—rolling out every player from top to bottom of the bench, keeping the tempo high and the pressure constant.

It stayed tight throughout, but the game ultimately swung on a tough two‑minute stretch and a couple of untimely turnovers. Tavistock lost by 4 on the night, and by just 3 points on aggregate, bringing the 2025/2026 season to a close.

Another Great Season for Tavistock:
- Team basketball
- Team atmosphere
- High effort
- Even play time for everyone
Exactly what Tavistock basketball is all about.

🔜 What’s Next
The season may be over, but the action isn’t.

Playoff Victory for Tavistock Titans 🏀

The Titans began their playoff campaign on Thursday against a Panthers team entering on a three‑game winning streak. Both sides showed excellent competitiveness throughout a tightly contested match.

After trailing by six at halftime, Tavistock responded with a strong third quarter, fuelled by improved perimeter shooting, to take a five‑point lead into the final period.

In the fourth quarter, Panthers edged ahead by one following late turnovers, but with 10 seconds remaining, Allen Bien drove to the basket and earned two free throws. He converted the first, and although the second was disallowed due to a line violation, the game was tied with two seconds left.

A Panthers timeout — with none remaining — resulted in a technical foul. Bien stepped up once more and calmly made the decisive free throw, securing a 1‑point win for the Titans.

Game 2 will be at home next week, with Tavistock carrying a 1‑point advantage into the second leg.

THE PLAYOFFS ARE HERE! 🏀

After a hard‑fought regular season, Tavistock lock in 3rd place and now shift focus to a win‑or‑go‑home Playoff showdown. This year’s format is a straight knockout, and the Titans will be battling an experienced Panthers squad who closed the season in strong form.

It’s a two‑game series, one away, one at home, and the overall winner moves on to the next round. Every possession matters. Every rebound counts.

A massive few weeks ahead as we represent Tavistock Basketball on the biggest stage of the season.

See you there!

TAVISTOCK WIN!! 🔵⚪

The final game of the regular season saw Tavistock take on the UTB Rats, a matchup that would decide the standings heading into the playoffs, so it was all to play for!

Early on, the game was tight. The Rats used their size well, scoring in the paint and finding gaps with well‑timed cuts. But even when they got looks, Tavistock’s defence made every basket hard work, highlighted by some huge blocked shots from that set the tone.

In the second half, the Titans came out with serious energy, turning up the pressure on the Rats’ ball handlers. That intensity forced multiple turnovers and sparked a run that Tavistock would never look back from!

As a result, Tavistock finish the regular season in third place, a fantastic achievement for the squad. Playoffs begin in early March… let’s keep this momentum rolling.

Thanks to the Rats for a great game and brilliant sportsmanship.
Huge shoutout to stand‑in referee for stepping in at short notice and doing an excellent job.
And thank you to Paige, Beth and Jack for the snaps 📸

Close loss for Tavistock on Thursday night

Heading into the game, the squad knew it was going to be an interesting match‑up against an extremely capable Kitto Basketball team.

Tavistock held their own all night and kept the game tight from start to finish, but couldn’t quite overcome the driving and offensive‑rebounding strength of the Platypus’ key scorers. The final score: 76–71 to the Platypus.

Huge shout out to the Kitto Platypus — amazing to see a close, competitive game between two top teams, played with high‑level sportsmanship and quality conduct throughout. A great showcase for the league.

Best of luck to the Platypus going forward.

MVP: Luke McClung
Luke was matched up against the opposition’s best offensive players all game, brought calm and control on the offensive end, and dropped in a few key hook shots to keep things close. A standout performance.

Thanks to for the stats.
