There’s a big difference between going for a walk somewhere familiar and feeling confident enough to look at a map, choose somewhere completely new and just go.
That’s the confidence we want people to come away with from our beginner navigation weekends on Dartmoor. 🥾🗺️
Not becoming an expert navigator overnight. Not spending two days learning loads of complicated compass theory.
Just being able to head outdoors and feel comfortable knowing:
• where you are
• where you’re going
• how to plan your own route
• what to do if the path isn’t as obvious as you expected
• and that you don’t need to keep checking the blue dot on your phone every few minutes
It opens up so many more possibilities for days out.
You can start exploring places you’ve never walked before, plan your own routes rather than following somebody else’s, take the family somewhere new, or just wander a little further without worrying about whether you’ll find your way back.
Our weekends are designed for complete beginners, so you don’t need any previous navigation experience. We spend the time outside on Dartmoor actually walking, navigating, making decisions and practising everything as we go.
We have two upcoming weekends:
🥾 26-27 September
🥾 13-14 March - new date now available, only 3 spaces remain
And as a bonus, you’ll also complete the nationally recognised Bronze NNAS Award during the weekend.
We’re still offering 15% off with code BRONZE15 for anyone who would like to join us.
You can find the details and September booking here 👇

The March date is also now available on our website.
If you’ve been wanting to feel a bit more confident getting out and exploring somewhere new, we’d love to have you along 🙂
