My Client Yve is a kayaker and goes out on her boat a lot through winter as well as the summer.

Sled pushes and pulls are underrated training for kayaking and boat work.

They build:

* leg drive
* core stiffness
* grip endurance
* shoulder stability
* full-body power

Heavy pushes improve drive and conditioning.
Backward drags strengthen the knees and quads with low joint stress.
Rope pulls have huge carryover to paddling, hauling lines, and moving boats.

Best part: sled work builds usable strength without the soreness and joint wear of high-impact training.

Simple. Brutal. Effective. 🚣‍♂️💪

LEG PRESS TIPS FOR BEGINNERS

The leg press is great for building strength and confidence in the gym — but form matters.

✅ Keep your feet shoulder-width apart
✅ Lower the weight with control
✅ Push through your heels
✅ Keep your lower back against the pad

🚫 DON’T lock your knees at the top
Locking out your knees puts unnecessary stress on the joints and takes tension off the muscles.

One of the biggest mistakes beginners make on the leg press? 🚫 Locking out the knees at the top.

Think: “soft knees” at the top of every rep 👌

Start lighter, focus on technique, and the strength will come 💪

More advanced lifters may briefly lock out under control depending on training style, mobility, and experience — but it’s not necessary for muscle growth and should never be explosive or careless.

Vulnerable post incoming

I’ve lost around 10 stone… and somehow, my mind still hasn’t caught up.

People see a huge difference. The scale shows a huge difference. But when I look at myself, it doesn’t always feel like much has changed. That’s the hardest part—realising that the physical transformation doesn’t automatically fix the way you see yourself.

Body dysmorphia doesn’t just disappear with weight loss. If anything, it can get louder. You start chasing a feeling instead of a number, and that finish line keeps moving.

I’m learning that this is as much a mental journey as it is a physical one. Trying to unlearn years of how I saw myself, trying to be a bit kinder in the mirror, even on the days I don’t believe it.

Progress isn’t just what you can measure—it’s also what you’re slowly rewiring in your mind.

If you feel like this too, you’re not alone.

Well, what can I say about my client Natasha?

From the very first day she joined the gym, she was determined to change her life and become healthier and happier — not just for her family, but for herself.

She came to me in August after being at the gym for four months. She had already made great progress and lost weight, but she had hit a plateau and needed a bit of guidance to keep moving forward.

Since we started training together in September, she has absolutely smashed every goal we’ve set. Her strength has improved massively, her confidence has grown, and she just keeps getting stronger every single week.

Natasha, I’m incredibly proud of the hard work, dedication, and consistency you bring to every session. This is only the beginning, and I can’t wait to see what you achieve next. 💪🔥

Lifting heavy takes time.
It’s not something you just jump into.It’s built rep by rep. Week by week. Phase by phase.
After 30, we naturally start to lose muscle mass and bone density. Hormones shift. Recovery can feel different. Joints might be a little louder than they used to be.
So we don’t rush it.
We rebuild.
Heavy lifting starts with:• Mastering form• Strengthening your core and stabilisers• Supporting joints• Gradually increasing load
Heavy is earned — not forced.
And here’s what happens when you stay consistent:
You build lean muscle that supports fat loss.You increase bone density.You protect your joints.You improve posture and strength.You boost long-term metabolism.
