Introducing, Josh Cox, as the Wyverns new Defensive Coordinator.

Josh joined the Wyverns in 2019, playing outside linebacker before stepping away from football when covid cancelled the 2020 season. He returned in 2025 to coach defensive backs, and stepped up to playcall for the defence last season. We know that the defence is in safe hands with Josh leading them 💪

Say hello to your new Head Coach!🔥

The Somerset Wyverns are delighted to name Coach Cal as our new Head Coach for the upcoming season. Cal joined us last season as a Wide Receiver Coach, where his impact and wealth of experience was immediately felt, and we're looking forward to him leading the team to the next chapter of American Football in Somerset!

Cal has told us that he is excited for the new season to begin, and to implement his winning culture and team vision across the club. We’re looking for a Head Coach to lead the next chapter of Somerset Wyverns Adult Contact Football. 🐉🏈

2027 is a rebuilding year — but more importantly, it’s an opportunity to build a strong, united programme for the future.

We’re not looking for someone whose only focus is wins, losses and results.
We’re looking for a leader who puts people first.

Someone who can:
🔥 Build a strong team culture

After leading the Somerset Wyverns Adult Team, we can officially announce that Head Coach Sean will be stepping down from his coaching role.

Sean has given his time, energy and commitment to helping move this team forward, and we want to say a huge THANK YOU for everything you've put into the Wyverns. ❤️💛

But don't think you've seen the last of him... 👀

Sean isn't going anywhere!

He'll still be pulling on the Wyverns jersey next season and taking the fight to our opponents on the field. 🏈🔥

So while we're saying goodbye to Head Coach Sean, we're definitely NOT saying goodbye to Sean the player!

Expect the same passion, aggression and competitive spirit — just from the other side of the sideline. 😈

Final score from Cornwall sees the Monarchs come away with a 19–8 victory as the Wyverns close out the 2026 season on the road.

It wasn’t the result we wanted, but every player left everything out on the field in our final game of the year. This season has been one of growth, resilience and hard work as we continue to rebuild and lay the foundations for the future of Somerset Wyverns football.

A huge thank you to everyone who has supported us throughout the season — our players, coaches, volunteers, sponsors and the fans who have travelled the length of the country to cheer us on. Your support means everything to this club.

Now, it’s time for some well-earned rest and recovery before we begin preparing for next season. The work doesn’t stop here, and we’re excited to keep building, improving and coming back stronger in 2027.

The final game of the 2026 season is here.

Today, the Somerset Wyverns hit the road for one last battle as we travel to Cornwall to take on the Cornwall Monarchs. After an incredible season of hard work, commitment and growth, the squad is ready to leave everything on the field and finish the year on a high.
