SENIORS AND LADIES MATCH
Friday 1st May 2026

A great morning of golf today. Everyone enjoyed it. Congratulations to myself and the Seniors Captain, Mike Gough, for the win. Also, well done to Colin Woodford and Margaret Farley for coming 2nd.

Thank you to Ed Cullen and Cullens Catering for providing a delicious meal after the match.

It was really lovely to see both the sections out together on the course.

Great match today -v- WGA Ladies at home. The weather was great and the company was just as good. All 6 matches were won, lost or drawn on the 18th. Very close. The match ended in a draw. A lovely cold meat buffet followed the match. Thank you Chelsea Clift on behalf of Cullens Catering. Days like today are what golf is all about.

Well done Isla Catto for your award for winning the Bunny Hop and the Winter Eclectic.

CAPTAIN'S DRIVE IN 2026
Wednesday 15th April 2026

A really good show of ladies today out on the golf course in what was, at the end, quite challenging conditions. The rain came down and the wind was really strong, but we all kept going!

This was the first year in the last 4 years that I have had to 'drive off' in the pouring rain. Normally watched by all the ladies outside, this year was too wet, so they all stayed in the Clubhouse watching from the window! Thank you to Di Squance, Becky Murphy and Col Woodford who braved the elements to judge 'where the ball will land' game. This is a £1 a square for each guess on a specially designed grid of the first hole. This raised £58.

A raffle was held which raised £76. Thank you to Pammie Atkins for running this. Thank you to everyone who generously supported both of these.

This was all finished off with a delicious cold meat buffet by Jackie Cullen and Cullen's Catering. Thank you!

All in all, a really good day with £134 being raised for charity. All proceeds to The Taunton Foodbank.

Lovely presentation lunch and ceremony today. A really cold round of golf was followed by a delicious, warming soup. Perfect! Thank you to Cullens Catering for looking after us.

£60 raised for charity from the raffle, so thank you all for your support once again.

Pamela Shuttleworth Claims Presentation Putter in Ladies Section

Pamela Shuttleworth emerged victorious in the Ladies Section's Presentation Putter board competition, held at Vivary Golf Club on Wednesday 28th May.

Shuttleworth's impressive round saw her finish with a net score of 73, securing the top spot.

The competition, keenly contested by the ladies of Vivary, saw some excellent golf. Pamela Shuttleworth's gross score of 109, expertly managed with her handicap of 36, proved to be the winning formula.

Close behind in joint second place were Bonnie Nicolle and Diane Squance, both finishing with a net score of 75. Bonnie Nicolle posted a gross score of 111 with a handicap of 36, while Diane Squance carded a gross score of 107 with a handicap of 32.

Congratulations to Pamela Shuttleworth on her well-deserved victory in the Presentation Putter.

What a delightful day for golf at Vivary last Friday.

The Ladies and Seniors enjoyed a fantastic better ball Stableford competition, followed by some well-deserved delicious food.

Congratulations to the winning pair, Sandra Eaton and Dave Thomas, who clearly played some exceptional golf to secure a fantastic 44 points. Just a whisker behind them, Bonnie Nicolle and Brian Thomas put in a strong performance to finish in second place with a very respectable 43 points. With ten pairs competing, it must have been a closely fought contest!

It's wonderful to hear that the day was topped off with a "delicious meal" provided by Cullens Catering.

Good food is always a welcome addition after a round of golf.

Overall, it was a successful and enjoyable event at Vivary Golf Club, fostering camaraderie between the Ladies and Seniors sections.

Well done to all who participated!

Home -v- WGA

A great win for the Vivary Ladies today winning all of their matches. The sun shone for us and the course conditions were perfect.
