SO!!! 🥵

Little bit warm out there today isn’t it?!!

It’s set to be pretty toasty over the week and training in all weathers does mean in the heat as well as in the rain but a few important things to consider….

💦 HYDRATION - Take extra care to stay hydrated. If you’re going for a long run think about electrolyte replacement as well as water

🐢 PACE - This might not be the time for the most intense interval session. If you’re running in the heat of the day dial the pace down a little bit if you feel like it’s necessary. Staying safe is more important than looking good on Strava…. No, really!!!!

🕰️ TIMING - If you can go out and run early in the morning or later in the evening the heat will be less intense (a bit.) Try to avoid the hottest parts of the day unless it’s your only option

Stay hydrated, stay cool, be wise 🦉

Above all, enjoy yourselves 😁🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

Hope everyone has had a great weekend! The temperature is definitely rising 🔥 Stay hydrated out there if you’re running ...

Here are some words from our Course Director Dan Brice on his memories from this year’s race…

“Wow, what a day!

We had a vision for what we wanted to create, put a plan in place, and delivered what turned out to be a truly special event—one that exceeded anything we could have imagined.

For me, the standout moment was the incredible sense of community and the buzz around my hometown. Seeing so many people come together through running and physical activity was inspiring, and watching local residents line the streets in their thousands to cheer on participants was genuinely overwhelming.

The support we’ve received, both on race day and since, has been phenomenal. People are still talking about the event, and with so many already signed up for 2027, it’s clear this is something Taunton has been waiting for.

I’m incredibly proud to have helped put Taunton back on the road running map and to showcase everything that’s great about our town.

Thank you to everyone who ran, volunteered, supported, and helped make the day so memorable.

Bring on 2027! 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️🎉”

It’s a bit over 3 months since the 40th edition of Taunton Half Marathon and here’s some words from our race director Alex reflecting on that day….

Looking back now, three months after the event, what stands out most is just how much fun it was. It was a big challenge for me personally putting on an event of that scale, but I just took it all in my stride and did everything to the best of my ability. What’s really special is that people still come up to me now and tell me how epic the day was and how much they loved it. Hearing that never gets old.

I genuinely thought the whole thing was flipping epic. The only shame is that I didn’t get to run it myself and soak up the atmosphere. From all the stories and photos, especially of runners heading up Shutewater Hill with crowds cheering them on, it sounded a bit like the Tour de France. Seeing the community come together like that and create such an incredible atmosphere is something I’ll always be proud of

☀️ Seems like there’s still a bit of heat around today but maybe some cloud cover too

Some of us love running in the sunny weather, some would prefer even a bit of drizzle ☔️

Lovely morning at Neroche 10k at which our very own Alex did the timing and Dave was marshalling. Later on Dan is putting on Mendip Murmuration with his Channel Events hat on 😁

Victories in the 10k for Taunton Half trophy winners Tom Addison-Wood and Tanya Batten. Fantastic running by all in warm conditions

Did you run this one? Are you racing tomorrow?

It’s Friday… time for a bit of fun, although of course this is a serious subject!

👟 RUNNING SHOES!!!

What shoes do you plan to run Taunton Half in? Have you found a pair that work like a dream when it comes to road running?

This year’s race winner can’t wear super shoes because of what they do to his ankles, so he managed to finish 1st in a trusty pair of Brooks Adrenaline!

What’s your go to road shoe?…..

On the subject of Taunton and its history did you know?….

🐉 The name Taunton means ‘Town on the river Tone’ and the original settlement was built around Taunton Castle, which is where the Museum now stands

🐉 The tower of St Mary Magdalene’s Church, which dominates the Taunton skyline along with the floodlights from the cricket ground, has the tallest church tower in Somerset at 163 feet (50 metres)
