There is so much confusion around self defence and what you are legally allowed to do to protect yourself.
So many dumb comments online saying
'you're not allowed to protect yourself, the police will do you for it'..
The chance of being found guilty of using an unreasonable amount of force in self-defence is actually 11 in 20 million.
You see, between 1990 – 2005 a survey was undertaken that looked at 20 million cases that went before the courts.
Out of those 20 million cases, only 11 people were found guilty of using unreasonable/excessive force in cases of self-defence.
So, the chance of being found guilty (statistically) is just 11 in 20 million.
You have the legal right to protect yourself, the law is there to protect you, IF you do so in good faith (not in anger, retaliation, or once the threat has passed).
In June, violence towards women and girls accounted for more than 1 third of all recorded crime in Yeovil.
One third!
Dont leave it too late. Get trained in self-defence.
