Founded in 2004, Taunton Longsword Association (TLA) is your local training venue for Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA). Primarily focussed on the Longsword weapon system (Lichtenauer tradition) we also dabble in Arming Sword, Sword and Buckler, Dagger, and in 2017, Spanish Rapier.

Luke stepped in tonight with an excellent session practicing working from the bind, introducing and drilling techniques like winden, mutieren, zucken, duplieren and durchwechseln. We finished up exploring a playful mindset with some games, drop gloves was surprisingly tense! Remember - Next week is a free taster session, please get in touch if you are interested!

It's been a fun week of sword action. Monday night was a well attended cutting session taking advantage of the summer evenings to get out and murder some milk bottles. Then tonight back in the loft working on some fundemental longsword ideas, chaining attacks to different openings, and of course, stabbing each other in the face as Liechtenauer would have wanted.

Great alternate weapons session tonight! Started with one group looking at Roworth and one group dall'agocchie, then all the toys came out for some free play. Sabres, Rapiers, Sidesword, Rotellas, a cape! Even a flail! ( not pictured because I was mostly running away from it )
