So - a review of this post from a coaches perspective rather than the player perspective that my original post was based on (and the feeling of disappointment)
Is my cue action/technique good enough quality to keep it repetitive? - yes, this video is sped up but my action and technique is high quality
Am I repeating that good cue action? - yes, it's clearly habitual and works
Am I keeping my timing regardless of bridge style/location and cue ball location? - yes, it's clearly also habitual that my back arm timing is extremely consistent regardless of how long my bridge is; necessary grip placement/adjustment happening automatically without thought
Am I adjusting bridge length and feather strokes to suit the pace and spin I intend to play? - yes, there are clear indications in my feathers and timing on how I intend to play pace and spin without too much pre thought; habitual adjustments of action for shot intended are clearly present
Am I staying true to the line of shot I have picked? Yes, there is zero body or head movement, very still apart from delivery arm, meaning movement throughout feathers and delivery are minimal/zero, so have approached the shot correctly and believe whilst in delivery position that I will deliver a good line; no shot anxiety causing movement and misses
Have I committed to the shot throughout all parts of the physical process? - yes, once a decision is made, there is no deviation from the shot line, and no shot anxiety present during delivery. Mental checklist complete before entering the physical part of the shot(this can take milliseconds or lots of seconds depending on the type of shot)
Did I clear the table? No
Why not? Back arm muscle memory for pace ON ONE SHOT - biggest common cause of cue ball out of control in intermediate amateur to pro level is always pace. You can get amazing at all sorts of cue ball 'zip', but if you can't nail pace then it means nothing. Zip it way back into baulk if it makes you feel great for one single shot, but controlling spin and making breaks is fully dependent on PACE management more than SPIN.
I'll clear em up next time.
Till then...π«‘π«‘π«‘π«‘
