Meet Lucy!

Lots of new followers recently so I thought it was time to reintroduce myself.

I’m Lucy I have been teaching on the Racewood Simulators for over 17 years starting with Barney and then upgrading to my current Dressage Simulator Roo.
I started the business in Herts/Essex and have travelled up the A1 having been based in Bedfordshire and Peterborough. The moves have always been because of family commitments and I have fond memories of my days further south.
Our current location is Wymondham Windmill, Melton Mowbray LE14 2BU.
The Windmill is home to an award wining tearoom, unique boutique shops, play area and a woodland trail with ample free parking. Roo can be found if you walk past the Windmill on the right.

The simulator is suitable for every ability with a variety of lesson options available to suit all needs. All lessons can be booked online at www.lucymcwilliam.com my availability and pricing is all on the website.

The Simulator can walk, trot, canter and do various dressage movements. There is a screen providing real time feedback on your position. You can go for a hack, to the zoo or a gentle ride along the beach.

Lessons are tailored to meet your individual requirements some with the controls and some without. The focus of the lesson will be working on your position and understanding what you want to ask the horse versus what you are actually asking.

You need to wear your normal riding clothes or comfortable trousers such as leggings. You will have your feet in the stirrups so suitable footwear is needed.

There is a weight limit of 101kg.

Lots of people come to the simulator and say they have been wanting to come for a while but were too nervous to book.
Every lesson is different, every simulator coach is different and every outcome will be different. If you want to improve your riding for both you and your horse or simply remember what it feels like to be back in the saddle then the simulator is for you. You can bet that no matter your reason for coming I will have taught someone else in a similar position to you. No problem is too big or small to simply have a go.

“Back to school” looks different for everyone.

When Nantwich RDA give their real ponies a holiday, their Dressage simulator comes into its own!

We were extremely privileged to be invited to observe a session with some of their riders and volunteers. Sheila and her team provide an incredible therapeutic service to RDA riders of all ages - and there are still so many on a waiting list too! It’s no wonder!

Huge smiles all round that day, thanks Stephen for letting us join your session, and to Sheila and her team for inviting us to observe their brilliant work.

The Autumn training season has officially begun at French racing school .

Back-to-school in the racing world means seriously locking in and our racing simulators aren’t easy OR forgiving - these students will step off the machine better jockeys than when they walked in. Total dedication 💪

We are looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer who will work on the design and build of bespoke mechanical simulators. The role will mean be working closely with the Technical Lead and Development Engineers, contributing directly to the build of new a prototype and taking this through the full process of putting it into production.

▪️ BACK TO SCHOOL▪️

We’re a manufacturing company - in the middle of nowhere.
We wouldn’t ordinarily have a stream of riders coming through our doors, but we do.

This first week “back to school” we’ve had 41 hours of rider sessions booked on our simulators. That has taught us something - that people WILL travel for good simulator coaching.

So, imagine the potential of having a simulator where riders already are (a training facility, equestrian centre, riding school... ) those 41 hours could have brought in over £2,400 in revenue - in one week alone!

Jen caught up with the team from the British Horse Society at Burghley Horse Trials today!

Their new Dressage Pro has been a HUGE hit. It will be an extremely important piece of kit for the organisation to promote and demonstrate the role of a BHS accredited coach.

So much so it’s already fully booked for the whole weekend!

New workshop

Introducing a combination of gentle Yoga and the Riding Simulator.
Reminding people to breathe is something I do almost every lesson it’s often the last thing we think about when we concentrate.
Using the Simulator alongside yoga techniques will allow you time to understand how different riding can feel when we get the breathing right.

A few words from Jaimie who will be running the yoga side.

”Hi, I’m Jaimie, I’ve ridden most of my life, joining pony club teams as a child, then working freelance in the equine industry.
My style of yoga is Gentle Hatha focussing on breath, body awareness, alignment and relaxation (so don’t worry-no handstands here!)
I love to share how yoga helped me and I look forward to meeting you at one of our workshops.”

These workshops will be held over two sessions the first on the 7th of September and the second on the 28th September.
Each workshop will last an hour and a half with 2 people per session.

Times available are:
10.00am-11.30am
12pm-1.30pm
2pm-3.30pm
Price per person £150.00 for both sessions.
No previous yoga experience needed.
Must of ridden the Simulator previously.
