💡Coaching Jockeys 💡

The way the simulator synchronises the movement of the body and neck, while replicating different speeds of gallop, gives novice jockeys a realistic introduction to the power and feel of a racehorse. It gives them a taster of what it will feel like on the track, helping them to build confidence, strength and technique in a safe, controlled environment. In this case, it’s practising bridging the reins and changing hands.

Your riders can practise lateral movements AND they can weight the outside rein too. For coaches, this is a brilliant feature for teaching intermediate riders one of the foundations of correct Dressage.

If the rider doesn’t apply the outside rein and correct pressure on the leg sensors, the simulator won’t perform the movement.

Repeating a movement, correcting the rider, repeating again - a great way to practise those movements over and over before transferring those skills to the arena.

💡 Using the Instructor Override Controls 💡

Jen is a Rider Physio and uses the Eventing Simulator almost exclusively for rider physio sessions. One of her clients, Anna, has Elhers Danlos Hypermobility - she trains with Jen regularly to work on body control and strength in the saddle - this really helps with balance as well as reducing some of the pain she can experience when riding - and takes some pressure off her horse too!

The Autotraining Program:
One really helpful feature of the simulator’s software is the Autotraining program. Within this setting, the instructor can manually select the gait (meaning the rider does not need to give any aids). This allows the coach to observe the rider more closely and focus fully on their position and movement. This keeps the session focussed - because the simulator can maintain a consistent stride without distraction or unpredictability.
