The Committee of Tarbert After School Care are delighted to reinstate a fun family friendly all inclusive race day held in Tarbert in August of each year.

From toddler dash to adult 10km race, we have something for everyone!

WHAT. A. DAY!! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

How braw are you lot?! Seriously, Dookers Dash 2026 was one for the books — a record-breaking turnout of over 80 runners, ranging from age 1 (!) all the way up to… well, let’s just say “distinguished” 😂 What a field, what a village, what a vibe.

To our amazing Marshalls — thank you for keeping every single runner safe, and for the cheering, the smiles, and the pure encouragement every step of the way. You are the backbone of this whole event 💙

And to our wonderful local kids — WOW. You designed the T-shirts, helped set up the route, painted the most brilliant signs, handed out prizes, and then went and smashed it as participants too. Dookers Dash would not be Dookers Dash without you lot. Absolute legends, every one of you.

Finally — to every single person who laced up and ran, jogged, walked or wobbled round that course today — THANK YOU. Your energy, your effort and your support is what keeps these sporting adventures alive for the young people of our village. We couldn’t do it without you.

It’s RACE EVE, Dookers! 🎉🏃‍♀️

The flags are flying, the banners are up, goody bags are packed and those trophies are polished and ready to be won! The course is looking absolutely gorgeous and waiting for you all tomorrow 😍

A few important reminders before the big day:

📍 Registration opens at 9am at the marquee down at the marina - dont panic, you can still enter tomorrow morning if you want to take part

🚫 No parking at the marquee or marina side, please! Use the main car park on Campbeltown Road, or the school car park instead

🏁 Race times:

• 1km starts at 10:30am from the marquee
• 5km/10km starts at 11am from the Garval Road end
• Toddler dash and 200m start at the MUGA from 1pm approx.

🚶 Roads and walkways stay open during the race, so let’s all be safe, courteous and kind out there

⏱️ This isn’t a timed race — start your watch and let us know how you get on!

☀️ A little cooler tomorrow but the sun’s threatening to show up, so water will be available on course. Stay hydrated and slap on that sun cream!

🎳 Head up to the bowling club from 12:30pm for kids’ races, bowls, basketball, music and the prize giving — the fun doesn’t stop at the finish line!

🍔🍺 Bar’s open, and there will be loads of food!

Most of all — get out there, enjoy our beautiful route, and have an absolute blast.

Dookers Dash Races
🏁 RACE DAY IS NEARLY HERE! Race HQ is BUZZING! 🏁

Here's everything you need to know to get you ready 👇

🅿️ PARKING
Strictly no parking available over at the marquee side and there are berth holders using the temporary car park in front of the marquee so be cautious ⚠️ Parking available at the bowling club, bus stop, school, main street.

📍 REGISTRATION
The marquee at the marina, from 9am (ish)
Grab your number + fuel up with the lovely Parent Council ☕🥐

🏃 1KM FUN RUN / WALK / JOG / HOP / DANCE / WHATEVER 😂
⏰ Setting off 10.30am from outside the marquee
A lovely flat route round to the start of the quay and back 🥳
(Please be mindful of the public still using the walkway!)

🔥 5K / 10K
⏰ 11am start at the Garval Road end
Grab your number, keep walking to the end — our lovely Marshals will keep you right!

Our TASC warm-up crew will get you moving, then when that foghorn blasts... you're off! 🚨 Follow the marshals and race signs along the route.

👉 5K: cross the finish line, you're DONE. Legend status achieved. 🏅
👉 10K: run past the finish, head back to garval and do it all again. You've got this. 💪

We'll be cheering you all the way round!

⚠️ Please note: the roads and walkways are still open to the public, so stick to the Green Cross Code and don't do anything mental out there! 🚸

⏱️ This race is not timed — but we all know you'll be quietly clocking your own time anyway 👀😉
