As well as continuing to offer Sea Kayaking experiences, I would like to introduce the relatively new Wing and Foiling Sports, to as many people as possible, over the next few years.
Trying WingSUP first is a great way to start for absolute beginners.
Please get in touch if you'd like to try an introductory day course. 07891861393.
Cheers, Dave 😎

A big thank you is due to all those who joined in with the Escart Bay beach clean, yesterday.
A 14 strong team of locals, were joined later, by a further five, who'd just come down to go Open Water Swimming at Rock Point and got roped in.
We collected a fantastic amount to add to that already collected last week.
There's still more to do, so if visiting this beautiful bay, please help by bringing a small carrier bag with you and doing a 'Two Minute Beach Clean', taking the bag to put in your bin.
If the majority of people visiting an area do this, it's amazing how quickly it can become completely clear of litter.

The weather looks much better than last weekend for the next stage of our Escart Bay, Beach Clean, tomorrow, 30th March.
Please come and lend a hand, if you can.
Unfortunately, this otherwise beautiful bay, catches the majority of rubbish, which washes up high on the storms coming in from the west, but we have an opportunity to get a lot of it out before it gets hidden by foliage and begins to break down.
We have some litter pickers on loan from The Grab Trust, plenty of sacks to fill and gloves donated by George Leslie Civil Engineering (the contractor currently working at Kennacraig).
It would be fantastic to get a big team together to add to the pile collected last weekend.
Hope to see you there.
Dave.

It's now just under two weeks from the Spring Equinox, the start of my season on the water.
Unfortunately the storms this winter, brought in large amounts of Marine Litter, which has washed up in Escart Bay.
Two years ago there was a great community attempt to clear up decades worth of rubbish. It was a fantastic effort by all involved.
If you could spare a couple of hours on the 23rd and/or 30th, to help with this, it would be much appreciated. We meet at 11:00am and just keep going as long as you have available. Parking is available halfway down the hill from the Cemetery Entrance. From there you can walk down the edge of the fence in the field.
Bags, gloves and pickers will be available, but please bring your own if you wish.
We hope to see many of you there. TIA.

It's great to be back at the Caravan, Motorhome & Holiday Home Show at the SEC, Glasgow, on the West Loch Shores, Tarbert Holiday Park stand, this weekend.
As well as promoting the sites near Tarbert, along with the ones at Musdale and Bellochantuy, it was a good chance to show off the on water activities and e-bike hire that are available.
I'm looking forward to the coming season of Kayaking, Canoeing, Stand-up-Paddleboarding, as well as our Introduction to WingSUP, Wingfoiling lessons.

Today is half way between the Winter Solstice and the Spring Equinox. Known as Imbolc on ancient calenders, for us, it indicates that it's time to prepare the paddlesports kit for the coming season on the water.
In just two cycles of the moon, children will be enjoying what remains of their Easter Eggs and we'll have changed our clocks to BST the week previously, giving us longer evening daylight.
Hopefully the weather will be good, giving ideal conditions to start running our popular beginner and family Sea Kayaking experiences.
Please get in touch through, messenger, e-mail to [email protected], or telephone 07891861393, to make a provisional booking for your trip out onto the loch.
With a bit of luck, our resident Ospreys will have just returned to their nest by then too.

Only a few days left until the Tarbert Seafood Festival which this year, not only as always, marks the start of our busiest couple of months, but also sees us celebrate 10 years of offering Sea Kayaking trips in our beautiful area.
We can provide an experience to suit all skill levels from absolute beginners, in the very sheltered water at our base in West Loch Tarbert, to more challenging journeys, for those who have paddled before, in more remote and exposed locations, like a recent day trip we completed using the tidal flows off Craignish Point to aid progress.
Please get in touch to book an unforgettable trip suitable for your previous paddlesports experience. Please call 07891861393, message through Messenger, or [email protected].
We hope to see some of you on our stand at the festival too.
Dave.

The great weather and the return of our resident Ospreys, this weekend, made a fantastic start of our season on water.
Firstly, on Saturday a group of locals tried the new activity we're offering this year, with an Introduction to Wingsports, WingSUP session.
Then, on Sunday, a Sea Kayaking Beginners Trip, which started in 'glassy' conditions on West Loch, spotting the Ospreys in flight and Seals basking on rocks, from an appropriate distance. They just lifted their heads to watch us paddle on.
As a WISE scheme accredited activity provider, we like to observe wildlife without causing disturbance.
Please get in touch with me on 07891861393, or [email protected], to book your unforgettable paddlesports experience here on West Loch Tarbert. Dave.

The Spring Equinox has arrived.
This is something I always look forward to, as it's when the new year taking guests out on the water begins.
Often my clients are trying Canoeing, Kayaking or Stand-Up-Paddleboarding for the first time.
The trips on West Loch Tarbert are ideal for absolute beginners, or those with very little experience.
Please get in touch to book your trip. The calendar is already beginning to fill, so advance booking is essential.
You can get me on [email protected] or on 07891861393.

With only two months to go until the Spring Equinox and the change to British Summer Time, we're making preparations for the return to running our popular Beginners Trips.
These Sea Kayaking 'Tasters' are ideal for those who have no, or very little, previous watersports experience and involve a gentle paddle in the very sheltered waters, at our base in West Loch Tarbert.
We're already taking bookings for the season, so please get in touch, to get your trip pencilled in on the calendar, during your visit to the area.
It's a fantastic way to see the scenery and wildlife.
Hopefully, our resident Ospreys will also make their usual return to the Loch between the Equinox and Easter.
We pride ourselves on helping visitors observe these amazing, protected, birds and other wildlife, responsibly, from a safe distance.

The time of year has arrived when the Sea Kayak Training I offer moves from Beginners 'taster' trips to providing tuition in the skills required if someone is considering taking up Sea Kayaking as a sport.
This short video clip was taken at the Southern point on the island of Cara, off the West of Kintyre, exposed to whatever the Atlantic Ocean sends our way. This is about as calm as it can be there and only a few weeks prior to this, I had to set up a 'rafted tow', as one member of a group found the conditions too challenging in a bigger swell, which was hitting the rocky shore.
The tow set-up prevented a capsize, which should be avoided in such locations, if possible.
However, if someone does go over and can't roll back up, they need to be quickly rescued, or even self-rescue to avoid an escalation in the situation.
I will be starting a series of fortnightly Saturday morning training sessions for anyone interested in beginning to develop the skills required to become a competent sea paddler.
The first is Saturday 29th October, in West Loch Tarbert, 10:30 to 13:30. £25 per person
If interested, please contact me for more details on 07891861393, or email me at [email protected]
