Youth Day 2025 Rewind

This evening we look back on highlights of our *award winning!* youth day, in this fantastic snapshot produced by James.

A fantastic reminder that our sport is accessible to all - locally throughout our club, and nationally through other British Microlight Aircraft Association clubs. When are you getting involved and into the sky!?

𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐖𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬!

We're bursting with pride to share the fantastic news that our Youth Week Team are national award winners!

Alastair, Ruth, James and Gareth led the planning and delivery of the event, and where supported by so many from our club.

Last weekend, they travelled across to England for the British Microlight Aircraft Association awards ceremony, where they were announced as winners of the Keith Negal Trophy for "Getting things done".

After last years hugely successful Youth Day at Kernan, this national recognition of their work and our club is the icing on the cake!

While the decking outside our clubhouse was being replaced, we took the opportunity to give the interior a much-needed refurbishment.

Fresh new paint, a sky-blue feature wall, new lighting and new artwork, combined with some other repairs has left our clubhouse looking amazing, and ready to continue being a social hub for many seasons to come!

We look forward to seeing it busy and bustling throughout the year!

Some exciting news from Kernan!

Earlier in the year we were fortunate to be awarded a Rural Micro Capital Grant from Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs thanks to the help of TADA Rural Support Network to replace the decking around our clubhouse, making our social area safe, accessible and ready for many more decades of use.

Kicking the project off during one of the wettest January on record, our club members rolled up their sleeves and delivered fantastic enabling works, before a new, composite deck, supported by the grant funding, was laid.

At the same time, we took the opportunity to refurbish our clubhouse, but more on that to follow!

With good weather here, the deck is already being put to good use, busy with pilots, visitors, and community each weekend.

Sunrise to Sunset. Belfast, Donegal, Enniskillen and everywhere in between. It was a wonder day and the first proper day of sun and nil wind this year. Empty hangars and an empty airfield as Kernan flyers went everywhere. Hoping for more of the same soon.
