Today we celebrate the incredible women and girls who make Belgrave Netball Club such a strong, supportive and inspiring community. From new players taking their first steps on court, to experienced teammates who lead by example, every member plays a part in building confidence, friendship and resilience through sport.

Netball is more than a game – it’s teamwork, empowerment and belonging.

A well matched game of netball for the Robins to finish off for the year 🎄 we took on Melbourne Comets, a game we knew would be tough given the table positions so we started prepared with 9 lined up. The flu had different ideas for us however as we quickly dropped to 7 this morning 🤧🙈.

A loss for the team 29-24 to Melbourne. A very unfortunate loss as we definitely put out some stellar netball, we just needed a couple of extra legs to help with a rather flat Q3 😅. As evidenced in our scores - we were drawing up to end of Q2 and we actually scored 7 goals each in Q4 so it was just a slightly disappointing Q3 where we lost track 🥳
I’m actually so pleased with this result given the challenge we had, so well done ladies!!

Max, Liv and Eloise made up the attack end. We worked the ball carefully through court and made some beautiful feeds and well timed moves into the circle. 👏🏻

Lauren, Emma and Shafiqah made up our defence end. They worked together and communicated so well - blocking off passes and creating turnovers by forcing balls 😍.

Special shout out to Katie who put in a cracking shift at C for 3 and GD for 1! She transitioned seamlessly into defence and got so many tips on the oppositions feeds 🤩

Despite the loss, a really enjoyable game to finish off 2025 🎅🏻🎄. Well done girls, really proud of how much we’ve all grown and gelled in this first half of the season, let’s knuckle down and show them what we’ve got for the next lot 💪🏻

We settled fairly quickly and the score was going goal for goal. Renegades are a team with a lot of height which played to their advantage at times however our secret weapon in defence was Ava 💪 Starting at GK but soon tactically and seamlessly moving into GD where she poured the pressure on and once she adjusted her distance there was no stopping her! It’s great to see your confidence growing week by week and tonight you played a really impressive and mature defence 🤩 At the other end of the court our super shooters were Evie and Katie who gelled quickly and had to keep moving to get free which they did over and over again. They shot right underneath the post and at distance and they didn’t let a tight defence fluster them, in fact it made them play a better game 💪

In the second half Lauren took a slip on the circle edge and we all gasped 😯 as we saw our superstar WD exit the court. Up to that point Lauren was having a great game, always positioned to offer for the pass and marking tight on her player. We wish you a speedy recovery Lauren and lots of love 🫶

As the game progressed Renegades went a couple of goals ahead but we managed to level it back and it was neck and neck until the final minutes of the game. Big thanks to Esther who came to support on the sidelines and had to quickly switch her crocs to trainers to come on to replace Lauren at WD. In the final quarter she moved to GK making some vital interceptions 🤩

Tonight‘s final (but by no means least) shout out goes to Mia who played a brilliant WA 😊 She read the play really well and made some beautiful feeds into the circle which were then converted to goal by our shooters. It was such a tight game and we played some good netball but sadly Renegades just capitalised in the last couple of minutes and pulled ahead with the final score 34-31. It was really close and I’m proud of everyone for putting in a hard shift against a good team and we get those all important bonus points for scoring within five goals of the winning score 🥳

An early game tonight for Sparrows against Sutton Sirens — and what a performance! 🤩 We really clicked as a team and worked together brilliantly to secure the win 💪

In the first quarter, Sirens were short a couple of players, and we took full advantage by settling quickly and putting early goals on the board. Our defence applied great pressure and dominated the rebounds, converting every one into a scoring opportunity. A strong start saw us take the quarter 10–2 🌟

With a team of 8 this week, we made rotations to ensure everyone had at least three quarters of game time. In the second quarter, Sirens returned with a full team and increased the pressure, but we stayed composed, played our own game, and held onto our lead. Another switch going into the third quarter worked well, and we secured another quarter win. In attack, our feeds into the circle were well-timed and accurate, resulting in some fantastic goals.

In the final quarter, we continued to build on our momentum — offering strongly for the pass, making smart dodges, and linking up beautifully across the court.

Final score: Sparrows 31–16 Sutton Sirens 🥳

Today saw Ravens play Swadlincote Starlings. We went out strong and with some great plays and amazing interceptions we took the 1st quarter and took an early lead.
2nd quarter saw us wobble a little and with some unforced errors we let this quarter slip and Swad took this one, although we still kept the lead.
3rd quarter we found out feet again, with some great zoning and pressure all the way down court, as wella Nd some lovely movement in the attacking circle we took this quter and increased the lead.
4th quarter we let it slack again slightly, with some more unforced errors and miss timed runs, Swad took this quarter, although we kept the lead overall.

Final score 41-33

Wrens have ended the year on a high after a great match today 🎉

Wrens came out in full force, apart from our lovely Casey (who still supported from sidelines), to win this match and hope to secure a great goal difference. We were a bit scrappy at times, playing Measham’s game rather than ours, but we didn’t let it get to us and quickly snapped out of it each time.

Evie, Carly, and Aimee were the usual strong defence 💪 They left Measham forcing the balls into the circle and causing lots of errors, with our ladies quickly using them to our advantage 👏👏

Beth, Erin, and Abi were our centre court trio. They helped support up the court with Beth and Erin getting some vital interceptions and turnovers in that centre court. All 3 were there to back up our shooters and give some incredible feeds in 👏👏

Hannah and Meg, our dream team in shooting. They put in lots of work, great pops, and worked beautifully as a team. They did some amazing shots and secured all of the turnovers we got 👏👏

Wrens ended with the fabulous score of 64-37 and won each quarter!! 🎉

A tight match last night for Sparrows against Pink Ladies, we went in wanting to improve after last weeks game and what a great game of netball last night was🤩

We had a flying start to the first quarter with Sparrows putting on great pressure and turning over a number of balls meaning we took an early lead. Pink Ladies soon found their flow to bring back the score but Sparrows were still able to finish the first quarter ahead🤩

Going into the second quarter we took on some words of wisdom and encouragement from Esther to try to extend our lead. Unfortunately Pink Ladies had also had a pep talk as they really turned up the heat and capitalised on some of our looser passes, getting some interceptions which they converted to goal. At half time we were behind by 1 goal.

During the third quarter we started to wobble, with some forced, panic passing we lost a few balls and at one point ended up 5 goals behind😅 But we pulled ourselves together, chased several loose balls, made use of our 3 seconds and we were able to narrow the gap again back to just 2 goals behind by the end of the quarter.

In the final quarter we gave it our all, getting several interceptions, making well timed passes, and some lovely dodging to get free. Everyone was everywhere on court to offer as an option for the pass, with this teamwork we were able to pull back into the lead in the final minutes and keep possession till the final whistle 🤩

Everyone had a lovely game, with each player having great moments of play. A massive thank you to Meg & Esther for helping us out this week🫶🫶
