🌻 Tap Step Tuesday 🌻

Three Beat Riff-a-rooni! 👣✨

I think this is a slightly underrated step. Everyone always seems eager to skip past this little beauty and move straight on to its big brother — the Four Beat Riff!

Personally, I think the Three Beat Riff is actually a bit trickier. You can’t catch your heel on the way forward, so it requires a little more control and precision.

How is it done?
👣 Forward tap
👣 Heel beat
👣 Ball beat

Like all members of the riff family, it’s the perfect step to sneak into your day-to-day life. Practise as you walk down the high street, stroll along the supermarket aisle, or wander around the house!

Happy Tappy Tuesday! 💛

😴 Dance is where my noisy thoughts go to rest 😴

There are neurological reasons why noisy thoughts go to rest when you move:

🌸 The Cognitive Shift: Your brain cannot easily focus and stress over worries while simultaneously processing spatial awareness, rhythm, and physical balance.

🌸 Nervous System Reset: Rhythmic movement activates the vagus nerve, which signals to the body to drop out of a panicked “fight-or-flight” state and settle into a calmer “rest-and-digest” mode.

🌸 Chemical Release: Movement naturally triggers serotonin and endorphins which lifts your mood immediately.

So if you fancy tucking up your noise in bed for an hour come and join us for a dance!

🌺 Marvellous May 🌺

May, you were marvellous in so many ways! From plenty of opportunities to dance, laugh, and make wonderful memories, to even more food-inspired dances that kept us smiling.

You treated us to a wonderful ballet trip, stickers, and happy times along the way. ✨

What more could we ask for?

Here’s to a month full of movement, friendship, and belly laughs 🌸🧡

May, you’ve set the bar high! June, what have you got for us?!

🐴 Horsing Around🐴

In celebration of Derby Day this weekend, we got down on the Downs. 🐎

You’ve heard of a dark horse... well, this is a dancing horse. (Not necessarily at its finest. 🤣)

There really is no excuse for this video. One of my best chums over was about to throw out the mask and I’ve been threatening to dance in it ever since. With the Derby this weekend, what better occasion?

The original audio is mostly on the verge of tears.

If this hasn’t put you off starting dance we’ve got ballet at 9.30am this morning. 🩰

Hope you all enjoy your weekend, whether it involves ballet, horses or neither!

NB. No animals were harmed in the making of this video. I do not own the rights to this music

✨ Zero to Hero ✨

A dance mum came out with this absolute corker when she was asked to perform in a show after not dancing for a while.

I’d never heard it before, but it really made me laugh!

To be fair, she’s got a point. Once you’re not 25 anymore, it can take a bit more than a couple of weeks to pull a routine together after a break. I’m bad enough after the summer holidays! 😂💃

Happy Friday to you folk of Bloomland!

🌻 Tap Step Tuesday 🌻

I’ve always thought of this step as the Roy Castle, because I seem to remember him demonstrating it on TV as part of a challenge. However, I believe its official name is the Shirley Temple. I’m sure Shirley won’t mind if I give Roy a little credit too! 😊

This magical combination of steps creates 8 tiny sounds that make one big impact.
It’s a great little filler step for a routine, especially when you can build up some speed with it.

👣 Right – Tap step
👣 Left – Heel beat
👣 Right – Heel beat
👣 Left – Pick up
👣 Right – Heel beat
👣 Left – Toe tap
👣 Right – Heel beat

✨ Repeat on the left ✨

Traditionally, it’s danced starting on the count of &1&2&3&4, but I quite enjoy dropping it into pieces that start on 1.

The most important thing to remember is the ‘back-to-front heels’. On the right side, that left heel must come down before the right.
After that, I’m constantly repeating “heel, toe, heel” to help everyone keep the ending the right way round. That toe tap should bounce straight off the floor!

Happy tapping! 🌸

🧡 Happy Feet 🧡

Took these sunshine-bright shoes out for a spin to start the break-in process. There’s nothing quite like the love-hate relationship of breaking in a new pair of tap shoes!

My tried-and-true approach is short sessions, worn often. A little patience now, and they’ll be slipper-perfect before I know it. ✨👞🧡

P.S Looking forward to the new half term with all you beautiful peeps!

🌷Half Term🌷

Where did that go? 🧡

I can’t believe we’ll shortly be in to the second part of our term leading up to the summer hols!

To round off the first half I thought I’d give my dancers a little treat.

Here is the proof that you’re never too old for a sticker! 🧡🌼 These reactions have had me smiling over the last few days. I think some of us genuinely enjoyed choosing the flower colour 🤗

I set this reel to ‘When I Grow Up’ from Matilda which was cute but didn’t want to ‘risk it for a biscuit’ using it as it’s a long reel. Please sing that tune in your head while watching.

Happy half term to all my beautiful Bloomers. Enjoy the sunshine and the rest 🌸

Brunch at Browns, followed by a little shoe shopping before I arrived and met the ladies for La Fille Mal Gardée at

The afternoon was perfectly finished with one of our beauties introducing us to Luca Acri, Principal Soloist, while we sipped on a glass of bubbles. 🤣🥂

Tutus, theatre and terrific company — London done properly.
