An amazing achievement for any Sporting club, but especially amazing for a Small Hampshire village located near major Towns like Basingstoke and Reading. Our u23s close the 2025/26 season for our Saturday teams this weekend as they take on a very talented Farnborough north end side in the ADFA Junior cup final at the EBB stadium for the 2nd year in a row, a fantastic achievement by our youngsters.

It was with great sadness that Bramley United have to write that on the 23rd October 2025 our Club President George Woods passed away.

George has been part of the club since the 1960s. George has been a player, Coach, Manager, Treasurer, Secretary, Chairman and mostly recently Club President. George was involved in so many important milestones for the club like the purchase of the ground we play on from a local farmer to building the current changing rooms as well as starting the Bramley United car boot sales in the 1980s. Many players will remember George attending games in all weathers to support the lads.

Club Chairman, Geoff Harris said “George was a very dear and good friend. He played a big part into me bringing the Loddon Under 16s to Bramley as a Saturday reserve side. He also got me on to the committee and pushed me into taking over his Chairman's role. He came with me to every game and training session without fail and was with us at the Isle of Wight when won the Hampshire B Cup. He was always full of encouragement. I and BUFC have lost a true friend.”

Club Secretary, Mick Walsh said “ George loved his football and went out of his way to watch it. He could always be seen at Bramley Utd home games and loved travelling to watch away games around the county and IOW. Always had an opinion on players and referees, mostly good! Will be missed by the club with his forthright views and guidance of the club. Gone but not forgotten.”

The thoughts of everyone involved with Bramley United are with the family of George.
