Glorious evening camp at Lac Maider Auberge Lac Maider. Wind got up overnight into a bit of a sandstorm so had to batten down the hatches on the Autohome tent. Heading out into the Eastern desert this morning. Thanks Pete at Atlas Overland for another fantastic location.

Getting ready for Morocco in an few weeks and as the touring season is upon us my thoughts turned to remember the many people still struggling in Morocco following the earthquake. We visited the High Atlas Foundation in December and the work they are doing is immense. So spare a thought for the communities you are travelling through and make sure your trip adds to the region and its recovery

We are working to provide immediate relief and long-term recovery support to communities affected by earthquakes.

Getting ready for Morocco. Took the opportunity of nice weather to put the tent and awning back on Nifty ahead of leaving for Morocco in 4 weeks. Took some snaps of the awning mounting arrangement on the Frontrunner bars and the table slide under the tent for anyone interested. Rig is looking very solid but will shake it down for rattles and squeeks over the next couple of weeks.

Nifty’s latest addition. Really simple and effective rear tyre accessory mount. Prep underway for Atlas Overland’s Moroccan Sandy Special trip in April and I needed to carry some sand ladders. With space at a premium I came accross this mount from Expedition-Gear. Easy fit, very reasonably priced. Needed to buy a heavy duty truck ratchet strap to complete the fit. Simple and effective.

I’ve seen a couple of questions coming in on drawer systems for the New Defender and thought folk might be interested to share their solutions. In my 90HT I went for the Frontrunner 6 cub box dual slide. This is perfect for width and depth in the load space of the 90HT. I mounted it on two 2” aluminium extrusions. They bolt down on the tie down bolt holes and then the drawers bolt into the extrusions. This gives me a usable flat space under the drawers and above the water tank that can be accessed when they are fully out. Great for solar panels and my flat folding BBQ etc. I then also had a bespoke aluminium box made up with a sliding lid to replace 3 of the cub boxes which gives me a sturdy table as well. Suits my needs and works well.
