Congratulations to all the Swinton and Worsley players who had good results at the Manchester Summer Congress over the weekend. It's now only a week and a half to the Swinton longplay on 5th-6th at the White Swan, FIDE rated, with 2 sections u2000 and u1600, enter online here: https://congress.org.uk/congress/817/home

Top result for the first team against 3Cs away on Thursday, narrowly squeaking out of last place in the league. Great results for the juniors Mahin and Leo, and Ondrej winning despite a nearly 200pt rating difference. It also means top summer league performance ratings for Mahin on 2400, Leo nearly 2200, Taruush on 2070, and Ondrej pushing 2000- Swinton juniors performing well!

Though a defeat, S+W juniors came out with some top results against an experienced Stockport side, with special mention for Tarrush and Shlok at the top of the order.

Due to the kids all being at the Giga final, adults worried about running into some talented underrated juniors can play fear free!

Last weeks games, great result for the second team with wins for Ben, Edward and Vehant and a great 1st board performance for Shlok drawing against strong opposition. Not so good for the first team, but Edward again proving his worth, and a win for a player showing he's not over the hill just yet😂

Swinton player Yang-Fan Zhou was competing in last weeks World Team Rapid and Blitz championship in Hong Kong. Squaring off against such tough players as world top-10 GM Wesley So. Go Yang-Fan!

Swinton will have its club night this Thursday as usual at Fletcher Hall, come along and who knows where it might take you!

Not the greatest start for the first team against Atherton in the South East Lancashire summer league, other than a good win for Mahin on 1. Club night will be running on Thursday evening at Fletcher Hall, and wishing good luck to the Swinton players playing for the Open team in the semi-finals of the County Championship at the weekend!

Final Bolton League match of the season, a dead rubber against already champions Atherton, who certainly showed our adults why that was! Better performances from our juniors tho!

Not the strongest finish for the first team in the Manchester league, Mahin battled in a time scramble in a great effort against a good player, and another consistent win for Daniel, but a poor performance by myself let the side down! Onwards and upwards for next year!
