One of the questions I get asked most often is:

"What workout should I be doing?"

The answer is simple...

👉 The one that has a purpose.

That's exactly what a WOD is.

WOD = Workout Of The Day

A planned training session designed to improve a specific area of fitness.

Not random.

Not guesswork.

Not walking into the gym and hoping for the best.

A good WOD has a mission.

An EMOM stands for Every Minute On The Minute.

It's one of the simplest but most effective training methods for measuring fitness because it combines:

🔥 Work Capacity
🔥 Recovery Ability
🔥 Muscular Endurance
🔥 Cardiovascular Fitness
🔥 Mental Toughness
🔥 Pacing Strategy

all in a single workout.

🐎 What Is An EMOM?

The concept is simple:

When the timer starts, you complete a prescribed amount of work.

Once you've finished...

The Rest Is Rest.

When the next minute starts, you go again.

Example:

10 Minute EMOM

Minute 1:

10 Slam Balls

Minute 2:

10 Slam Balls

Minute 3:

10 Slam Balls

Continue until Minute 10.

If 10 slam balls take:

⏱️ 15 seconds

You get:

⏱️ 45 seconds rest

If fatigue causes the same 10 reps to take:

⏱️ 35 seconds

You only get:

⏱️ 25 seconds rest

The fitter athlete recovers faster and earns more recovery time.

🐎 Why EMOM Is Brilliant For Gauging Fitness

Unlike many workouts, EMOM exposes weaknesses very quickly.

You cannot hide.

The clock doesn't care.

1️⃣ Recovery Rate

Recovery is one of the biggest indicators of fitness.

Can your heart rate come down quickly?

Can your breathing recover?

Can your muscles be ready for the next effort?

A fit athlete can complete work quickly and recover efficiently.

A less conditioned athlete will spend most of the minute recovering.

How much work can you sustain repeatedly?

Lots of people can work hard once.

Fitness is about repeating quality effort over and over.

EMOM reveals:
