XContest 2023 Results are officially finalised! 🥇 1st footlaunch and 🥈 2nd Open categories
The XContest is a huge challenge of endurance, for pilot and machine, requiring you to log 6 triangular flights as large as you can. Overall during my 6 winning flights I covered 1652km over 33hrs 47mins, with my longest flight spanning 7 hours 43 minutes.
I flew the entire season again on the Bulldog Paramotors Spirit frame, perfect for comfort during cross country flights. The arms on the Bulldog allowed a modification towards the end of the year to increase fuel carry capacity by hanging two extra tanks either side. This ultimately opened up huge potential for even longer cross countries.
Most know that I have the Vittorazi Atom 80 bolted to my frame which has been my choice of engine for the last few years and has also helped me win 2 British Open Paramotor Championships. The Atom has been exceptionally reliable throughout and shown it's mighty power to take off with 139kg AUW weight when full of extra fuel. The 140 propeller Vittorazi has developed for the Atom has improved efficiency greatly and allowed for longer flights as well.
Not forgetting the canopy of choice, the Dudek Warp 2. New to me this year, it was a step up in gliders that has allowed me to perform at my max. Not only did it help me win the 23 XContest but earlier last year it took me to first place in the British Open. The Warp 2 has awesome responsive handling, amazing efficiency and is fast!
Congratulations to all the other podium placed pilots, may 2024 be a year of good weather and and full of long flights.
If any of this has intrigued you to explore the freedom of flight I highly recommend Ufly4fun who are based at Wingland Airfield, a true mecca for paramotoring.
