🌟 Week Two of My “Try Something New” Journey 🌟

Last week, I stepped out of my comfort zone and decided to teach Combat as a cover instructor. There were lots of positives from my boxercise bacjground, but it most definitely didn’t make a combat instructor — I learned that my arms and legs don’t always work in sync! 😅

Fast forward to this week, and I took on something completely different… my first ever aerobics class.
I’ll be honest — I procrastinated all week, watching videos and overthinking whether I could actually do it. Then last night, while my son was at basketball, I finally sat down, planned a routine, and decided to just go for it.

This morning I walked into a full class of smiling faces ready to move. I wore my long socks (no leotard… though it did cross my mind 😂). We danced, laughed, and sweated together. Hearing people say things like,

“This is fantastic!”
“You’re so good at this!”
“Please let us know when you’re covering again!”
It made every bit of worry worth it.

Someone said to me last week,

“We don’t come to your classes just because you’re a great instructor — we come because you make us feel good about ourselves and you always know what to say to hit the personal spot’
And that honestly meant the world.

This journey has reminded me that growth happens when we push past our comfort zone — whether that’s teaching a new class or trying something we’ve never done before.

At 43, I’m still learning, still growing, and still figuring it all out, especially after changing my career completely two years ago — but today, I’m proud. 💪
If there’s something you’ve been putting off, take the leap — you never know what you’re capable of until you try. 💫

💥 Stepping Out of My Comfort Zone 💥
Yesterday I did something completely new — I taught Combat.
Now, I’m not qualified in it (I teach Boxercise – where we don’t exactly swing our legs around 😅), but I gave it a go… and you know what? I loved it! Turns out I can throw a decent punch — but my legs? Not quite on board with the whole “kick combo” situation yet 😂.
After that, I taught BodyPump, decided to push a little heavier despite my shoulder ni**le (probably not textbook training, but sometimes you just have to see what you’ve got in the tank!).
Fast forward to today and I’m feeling it — that glorious, “I’ve worked every muscle I own” kind of ache. Honestly, I haven’t woken up feeling like this in ages, and it’s amazing. It’s a reminder that I need to include more classes that challenge me and make me sore — in the best way.
One day I might take my training seriously and focus on becoming strong and toned… but until then, I’m reminding myself that there’s no one perfect way to train.
If you’re moving, smiling, and enjoying what you do — that’s what really matters. Not everyone wants bulging biceps or a sculpted b***y — some of us just want to feel good in our own skin and be the best version of ourselves. ❤️💪

I’m not very good at sharing what I do, but im trying to get better at it, so here goes:

When this amazing lady came to me this week, she said ‘my running technique is dreadful on a treadmill and I want to get better, allot better’. After watching here, I realised very soon she was constantly watching her toes, worried about balance, and convinced running just wasn’t for her, but there was a base for a good runner.

In just 30 minutes together, we worked on small but powerful technical changes — helping her run a little faster, but more importantly, giving her the confidence to lift her head, stop staring at her toes, and believe she could do it.
The difference that confidence makes going forward is huge. Once you believe in yourself, everything changes.

Tonight, she sent me the messages below, and honestly, I couldn’t be prouder 🥹💪. To see her celebrating in what she achieved, and to know I played a part in unlocking that self-belief, is exactly why I love what I do.
I don’t just teach technique — I teach the way I would want to be taught: through feel, encouragement, and building confidence step by step.

It’s not always about speed or distance — sometimes the biggest wins are about getting out of your own head and realising you can.

Could not be prouder of some of my clients and friends today.
I don’t often post about my clients, as most of our work happens in small groups or 1-to-1 sessions, but today was different.
Standing at the Swindon Half Marathon, watching my clients and friends take on the new route, I was overwhelmed with pride.

One client in particular shared a message that perfectly sums up what training together in small groups can achieve:

“Two years ago I could plank or run for about 15 seconds without stopping for a fag break. Circuits and the support we have as a group showed me that being pushed to the limit isn’t a burden, it’s a requirement. You guys have helped me so much I’ll never forget it.”

It’s incredible what encouragement, accountability, and a supportive community can do for someone’s confidence and performance.

Making me proud to be your coach x

Thank you Tom for your kind words -
As a personal trainer and fitness coach, my passion is working closely with individuals to help them transform both physically and mentally.

While I spend 80% of my time teaching fitness classes, the small number of personal training clients I get to work with mean the world to me. Every session is an opportunity to make a real, lasting impact. If you're considering taking your fitness journey to the next level, I would love to work with you—please don’t hesitate to reach out!

I’m beyond proud of clients like Tom, who has made an incredible transformation over the last 7 months. Tom came to my class struggling with chronic anxiety and depression (not knows to me in early stages), and through dedication and hard work, he has lost 13kg, gained 4kg of muscle, and completely shifted his mindset. Today, he feels stronger, fitter, and in a much better mental space.

Tom's journey is a powerful reminder of how fitness can not only change your body but your life as well. His resilience and commitment to this process have been nothing short of inspiring.

Thank you so much, Tom, for allowing me to be part of this transformation. I’m excited to see where you’re at in another six months. If anyone wants to learn more about how fitness can help improve your life, please reach out.

Sometimes I wonder if I should even be in the fitness industry. I don’t lift the heaviest weights when teaching, I don’t spin the fastest. My nutrition is bang average. But my technique is bang on and I love to help ppl lift well, get more power from a bike or their legs. And when they achieve more that me I celebrate it as a win.

I teach my classes, in PT my small number of clients from their home and it fits around my life and my children.

I am honest, reliasble, caring and a good person. That’s why my participants like my sessions and that is why I will continue doing what I do. What and the fact I get paid to keep fit. Win/win

You do you, and if you need me: I’ll do me, the only way I know how 🦵💪😅
