The start of the season got off to fiery start! Lots of sunshine and very excited and happy children.
U7s and U8s were together today, we had lots of fun just playing games such as Rob the Nest and Sharks and Fishes. This was supported with just getting our hands back on rugby balls and a bit of catching.
Some new players welcomed in both age groups.
Fun had by all and lots of smiling faces at the end makes it all worthwhile

A fantastic first session back for our eager U9s this morning, including a warm welcome to three new players!
A big thank you to the M&Y chair for leading our warm-up, and to C from the U16s and A from the U14s for helping out.
With a new season come new challenges! We focused on tackling technique, starting slowly on the tackle drums before progressing to controlled tackles against each other.
We then enjoyed two brilliant variations of Gladiator before finishing with a match and an explanation of the new seasonβs rules.
A super performance from every playerβwell done, U9s! ππ
π U10βs keen and eager to get going with the new season. Introduction to a couple of new players. We brushed up on some of our basics with some passing and catching drills, progressed into a recap on good tackle techniqueβs. Then after an excellent demo from some Under 12 players we started to learn about scrums. Lots of smiles and the kids all really enjoyed themselves.
π U11 enjoyed their first full session back with some new drills learned together with the U12.
It was great to see our smaller players really putting in the effort with tackling, as well as the others. Special mention to H/H for his effort today.
Thanks to all the U12βs and their coaches for making the first session back great fun.
π U12s training
After a good preseason, the season started with a joint session with the U11s.
It was a warm one in the sunshine and focussed on the basic skills.
Tackling, rucking, and passing to shake off the rustiness. The kids worked hard and showed some good things which should lend to a strong season to come.
We finished with a touch game which was competitive as they showed their skill and pace to score some great tries.
Looking forward to an exciting season with the boys showing us all what they are capable of.

A steady start to the season, with stunning weather providing the perfect setting for our first session back.
It was great to see everyone again, and the players were clearly excited to be back together and enjoying each otherβs company. That excitement meant we were a little slow to settle and find our concentration early on, which is completely understandable for a first session back.
The session focused on passing drills, working on accuracy, communication and movement, before progressing into evasion work and encouraging good body positioning when carrying into contact. We also spent time looking at effective body positions around the ruck, reinforcing the importance of being strong, low and controlled.
As the session progressed, the focus and intensity really started to build. We finished with a flurry of energy and commitment , which was really encouraging to see.
Overall, a very positive first session, with plenty to build on, what will hopefully be an enjoyable and successful season.

U14s worked hard at transitioning through attack and defensive cycles and multi phased sets as the first season with flankers and full pitches awaits us. The team was eager to learn new roles and responsibilities as we trained with great numbers.
Some great game zone work was backed up by some skill zones allowing the players to develop their own skills lead by our experienced coaching staff.

The boys had a fantastic session back focusing on physicality around the ruck. From an attacking perspective, they worked on rapid ball movement and passing accuracy under pressure(video below). They gave it their all and left everything on the pitch. They came away dripping in sweat and feeling ready for the season ahead.
