ATBA-UK

ATBA-UK The National Governing Body for Mountainboarding in the UK The ATBA-UK is the National Governing Body for Mountainboarding in the UK. What does the ATBA-UK do?

We are a voluntary organisation run by members of the UK mountainboarding community for the benefit of that community. The ATBA-UK is a community-building organisation and all of the services we deliver to and for the community also have the effect of supporting the growth of the mountainboarding community. Our mission
The mission of the ATBA-UK is to support the growth of mountainboarding in the

UK. Our aim
The ATBA-UK works to achieve it’s mission through activities to participate in, competitions to achieve in and a community to belong to. People look to past times like Mountainboarding to provide them with opportunities to spend time with like-minded people, participate in life-enriching experiences, and develop their own skills for both personal and peer recognition. By ensuring that our services meet the emotional needs of the mountainboarding community, the community will value those services, and the community will grow. With the growth of the mountainboarding community, comes the growth of mountainboarding as a recreational activity and a sport, and so the mission of the ATBA-UK will be achieved. The ATBA-UK provides a range of services to the UK mountainboarding community that provide benefits to the community and generate income for the ATBA-UK. The services offered include :

Membership. As a membership organisation, the ATBA-UK relies on people becoming members as the more people involved with the ATBA-UK the stronger the organisation is, as a means of providing benefits to those who are involved in the mountainboarding community, and as an income stream. There are four levels of membership: Introductory, a free membership package for new riders, Recreational, a low cost package for those riders who want to support the ATBA-UK and get benefits such as discounts at shops and mountainboard centres, Competitive, a premium package that includes discounts at shops and mountainboard centres and half priced entry to the UK Series competitions, and Instructor Membership, a package aimed exclusively at ATBA-UK qualified instructors. Competitions. The UK Series is an annual series of national-level mountainboard competitions featuring BoarderX Racing, timed Downhill descents, and Freestyle displays. The UK Series showcases the best of British mountainboarding, with some of the top riders in the world competing, but have an “open-to-all” philosophy so that any rider who can complete the course safely is welcome to compete. This approach of catering for all levels of riding ability is what makes the UK Series inclusive of all the community, and unique among action sports competitions. Instructor Training. The ATBA-UK Instructor Training Programme is a structured training scheme that develops confident and competent Instructors who deliver safe and fun mountainboarding sessions.

That's right, it's that time of year again and the EOYAs are back!

We've made a couple of changes to the categories, otherwise everything is pretty much the same - nominations close on 13th December, our team shortlists the nominations with voting on the shortlists taking place 20-30th December and the winners being announced on New Years Eve!

So, what are the EOYA23 categories? They are as follows:

Community Spirit
Video Of the Year
Content Creator Of The Year
International Rider Of The Year
Breakthrough Rider Of The Year
Rider Of The Year

Community Spirit - who in the UK mountainboard community really encapsulates the community spirit of mountainboarding? It could be someone that is always giving mountainboard lessons, someone always organising rides, someone who keeps a crew together or all of or none of the above! When you think Community Spirit, who do you think of?

Video Of The Year - last year we had Clip and Video separated. This year, they are one and the same category! If it's a banging mountainboard video, no matter if its 30seconds or 30minutes long, you can nominate it.

Content Creator Of The Year - we are pleased to carry this over from last year as good content is something we all love. What rider or crew are getting the good word of mountainboarding out there and keeping mountainboarders stoked?

International Rider Of The Year - are first time going outside the boarders of the UK! With the return of the World Mountainboard Championships this year, this category made complete sense. Who was your favourite international mountainboarder in 2023?

Breakthrough Rider Of The Year - another returning category, and an important one. Who had a breakthrough year in 2023? It could be a rider overcoming their fears, a rider that made unexpected big splashes in the scene or a rider that rode at another level in 2023.

Rider Of The Year - a staple of the EOYAs. Who was the UK mountainboarder of 2023?

Nominations are now open! You can submit more than once if you'd like, though please only add one name per category per submission! If you prefer a link that's easy to share (thanks for sharing it, by the way) then here it is: https://forms.gle/1g6xdpRvnEU4GJ5K9

Here is the agenda:
Director's Statement
Financial Statement
ATBA-UK Overview
Volunteer Withdrawals
Open Positions and Nominations
UKC22 Survey Feedback
Future events (UKC23, MWC bid)
General Discussion
AOB

Open positions:
- Standards and Instructors Lead. Someone to lead on setting and maintaining of standards and administering the instructor training program.
- Electric Lead/Liaison. Someone to lead on integrating the electric off-road and mountainboard communities more closely. Look for opportunities with insurance, events and venues.
- Promotion team. People to help run the website and social media streams, information dissemination and event promotion including contacting local media outlets.
- Sponsorship Lead. Someone to take the lead in engaging with and managing new and current sponsors for events and the ATBA-UK as a whole.
- Events Team. Ideally someone/people who do not compete (preferred but not essential) to join the team to help with the organising and running of events in the build up to and especially at, the events.

General Discussion:
This is the space to discuss thoughts and ideas on promotion, retention and growth for mountainboarding in general in the UK. All discussion needs to take into consideration that the committee as it stands is three people, so any discussion here will only go forwards if the committee grows by filling the above positions.

The idea is for this discussion to help guide the new committee going forwards. The new committee will need time to figure out it's strengths and how to work together before any plans or actions can be made or taken. There are no promises that the discussion will lead to concrete actions being taken.
