Series complete.

A huge thank you to Veterans Cricket India for a brilliant three-match series — it was a real pleasure to host you here in England.

England won the series 2-0, with the third match at Hammerwich unfortunately lost to rain. The cricket throughout was a credit to both sides.

We wish the whole squad and management every success for the rest of your UK tour, and we look forward to seeing you again in Guyana this October for the IMC Over-40s World Cup.

James Duffy of the England Over 40s team was named Player of the Match and received a RADO watch from Richard Deacon, President of Swindon Rotary and Managing Director of Deacons Jewellers.

Duffy scored an unbeaten century to help England comfortably beat India Over 40s by nine wickets in last Wednesday’s 45-over international match at Swindon Cricket Club. England successfully chased India’s total of 189 for 7 with ease.

England captain Darren Stevens, who previously enjoyed a long professional career with Kent, said India’s score was lower than expected. He added: “It was a good wicket and we would have been confident of chasing 300 today.”

The event also helped raise money for Swindon Hospice and the End Polio Now campaign through the support of Swindon Rotary.

Swindon Cricket Club’s next fixture will see Gloucestershire and Hampshire Second XIs play a T20 match at the County Ground on Tuesday 23 June at 5pm. Entry is free.
