Save analysis - cutback/cross 🎥
- Positioning, attacker is in an angled position inside the box. We take up a shot stopping position in this scenario to cover the near post and a possible cross/cutback from this position. Trusting defenders to deal with a back post cross. Attacker travels with the ball towards the byline so we adjust our position to deal with a potential cutback.
- Set position, normal set as attacker is on the angle in a shooting position. As the attacker goes to the byline for the cut back our set position drops lower to help deal with any low crosses. Position is in line with the post but not stood directly on the post.
- Decision making, quick decision to defend the goal rather than try and effect the cross. Body position is still set but turning quickly to keep eyes on the ball early. As we turn to defend the goal we drop closer to our line to allow more reaction time. Then trusting our reactions to make the save.
All of our ‘Basics’ (Set position, Handling, footwork, dive shapes) are used to here to make this save which is this weeks focus in our weekly sessions 🧤⚽️
