Keith, age 66, proves that getting older doesn’t mean you have to accept weight gain as inevitable.

Keith has always understood the importance of movement and training for his health and fitness. However, over time, some habits, eating patterns, and lifestyle choices had started to catch up with him, particularly around his midsection.

Like many people, he assumed it was simply age-related weight gain and accepted that this was just part of getting older.

I wasn’t convinced.

We started with my 6-Week Reset & Reboot Program, focusing first on the fundamentals:

✅ Improving daily habits
✅ Reducing excessive caffeine intake
✅ Cutting back on late-night eating
✅ Tracking sleep, energy levels, and consistency

For the first six weeks, Keith tracked his habits, sleep, and how he was feeling each day. The data told the story, helping us identify what was working and build momentum.

The results?

✔️ Better sleep
✔️ More consistent energy throughout the day
✔️ Reduced body fat

Three weeks later, by continuing the habits we had built together, Keith had lost a total of 5kg.

And here’s the best part:

❌ No extreme dieting
❌ No endless cardio sessions
❌ No unrealistic restrictions

Instead, we focused on:

💪 Prioritising protein
💪 Building strength and muscle
💪 Improving mobility
💪 Staying consistent with the basics

Jo came to me 3 months pre-op, in chronic pain and relying on a cocktail of prescription painkillers just to get through the day.

Her main goal?
To get as strong as possible before her second hip replacement.

The secondary goal was to tackle the bloating and inflammation she’d been struggling with around her midsection.

We assessed her nutrition and focused on reducing inflammation in both the joints and the gut 👌

Nothing extreme — just a few smart tweaks…
Including more foods which reduce inflammation, and reduce anything which can cause inflammation.

Alongside strength training and mobility work, the changes quickly started to add up.

Within the first month, Jo noticed a huge reduction in the pain relief meds she had been relying on just to get out of bed.

Fast forward to 4 weeks post-op, and the physio was blown away by how smoothly her recovery was going 🙌

Now we’re just waiting for the all-clear so Jo can get back to Personal Training 💪

But the weight around his midsection kept increasing and progress had stalled.

Some sessions just hit differently.

Today was one of those… the weight felt extra heavy, the legs were negotiating, and the mind was definitely considering an early exit strategy 😅

Training at 40+ is a funny old game — sometimes your mind is ready, your body says “absolutely not,” and your muscles just sit there like “we’ve unionised, come back tomorrow.”

But here’s the thing… we still show up. We still move. And somehow, even when it feels like a grind, we walk away lighter, clearer, and a little bit stronger (mentally if not physically!).

Because it’s not about having perfect sessions — it’s about consistency, resilience, and maybe laughing at yourself when your warm-up feels like the main event 😂
