I’ve been thinking a lot about the people I work with.
I genuinely feel very lucky.
At Esprit we have teachers in their 20s and teachers in their 70s. Different generations, different experiences, different ways of seeing the world. Some have backgrounds in dance, some academic, some military, some run businesses, some have raised families, some have done all sorts of things before finding their way to teaching movement.
They also bring their own experiences of being in a body. Back pain, knee surgery, abdominal surgery, endometriosis, injuries, recovery, all the stuff life throws at us. It gives a depth of understanding that people can feel.
The thing I notice most though is how much they care.
Someone takes the cloths home to wash. Someone runs the hoover round. Someone buys a pair of grip socks because they know a client would benefit from them. Someone stays behind for a chat because they know somebody has had a rough week.
None of it is in the job description.
It’s just people being thoughtful.
I know every studio says they have a great team, but I really do think ours is special. Not because they’re perfect. Just because they’re good people and that comes through in how they teach and how they look after the people who come through our doors.
Feeling very grateful for them 🫶
