Well well well....might not have been the 3 points the gaffer wanted but the performance and mentality especially to score 3 in the last 9 minutes to get a point showed some real character and determination.

The lads played some brilliant football from the off and were unlucky to find themselves behind at all but what a performance to carry on fighting and some great goals to get us back in into the game....great effort.

Man of match was a close one but the gaffers gone for Adam Cantrill for his tireless work rate on the right wing throughout.

It feels like an age since we last posted and what with a very difficult pre season due to the extreme weather, Sunday league Veterans football is back at Sleetmoor.

With a number of new additions to the squad competition for places is high as is morale in the camp.

⭐ Players’ Player – Liam Wilkinson
Picked by all his teammates, which proves he’s either genuinely class or just the best at bribery! 😂 A proper utility man who can play anywhere on the pitch, never moans and always gets on with the job. Fully deserved, Little Liam! 👏

⭐ Coaches’ Player Over 40 – Adam Cantrill
A brilliant winger who is genuinely missed when he can’t make a game… mainly because someone else then has to try run down the wing! 😂 Quality player and a thoroughly deserved award. 👌

⭐ Coaches’ Player Under 40 – Scott Parsons
A battling centre midfielder who can pop up and score from absolutely anywhere… although apparently 12 yards from the penalty spot is where his GPS stops working! 😂⚽

Big congratulations to all three lads thoroughly deserved and a massive part of the team! 🏆💙

Todays line ups for our inter squad friendly. Fantastic game and some great football played by both teams with the blues just edging it by winning 2-1. Goals from Bamford and Parsons for the Blues and an own goal for the Reds. Valuable minutes in the tank for all the lads ready for next the season opener next week.

Man of the match - No13 Noah Toplis RIP forever 13

RIP Noah 💔

Sleetmoor United are heartbroken to hear of the passing of 13-year-old Noah Toplis, a cherished member of our football club.

To honour Noah's memory, all teams will be participating in a minute's silence prior to their opening matches this season.

Our U14 Barca's manager, Tim, wished to say a few words on his time knowing Noah:

"Noah was an extremely popular member of the team who simply loved playing football. He never missed a training session or a match, and he gave everything, every time. His pace and his willingness to run were commented on by opposition coaches more than once, and he impressed so much in his first season that he won Coach's Player of the Year.

We'll remember the nervous smile before kick off and the beaming one after he'd scored or we'd got a result. He was an outstanding young man and he will be sorely missed by everyone involved with the team. We'll hold on to all the good times and the laughs we shared in our short time together.

Our thoughts are with his family and friends."

Rest in peace, Noah. You will always be remembered at Sleetmoor United and will be forever in our hearts ❤️

Today is the day! Get yourselves down to Sleetmoor Lane this afternoon for a fantastic cause as we look to raise money for Noah and his family.

Aside from our charity football game, we will have a bouncy castle, a licensed bar and other activities and fundraising opportunities. The canteen will be open and it promises to be a wonderful day.

Cash is preferred as our card machine will only work near the kitchen 😅

Make sure you bring your sun cream too, it should be a bit cooler today but it's still going to be a hot one! ☀️

So what can I say other than......Its the end......not forever, just our first season 😅

Its been in the whole a great first season for the whole team and while we've finished slap bang mid table we've been competitive in nearly all of our games.

I (The gaffer) was gutted to have missed the last game of the season but I'd like to thank all the players for their support over the season, captain and vice captain (Palmer & Boy band/Wazza) and also hodge for keeping me sane when ive questioned myself.

Many thanks to our sponsors, hopefully we can rely on your support next season as well but the planning for next season starts almost immediately as we look to turn defeats like today into wins
