Private lessons

About half our sessions are bespoke or private lessons.

These are the kind of things we do:

- scouts, or other youth groups. We have an AALA licence which means we can take under-18s on the water.

- team building or corporate socials. Want to get the team out of the office and doing something fun together ?

- families with children. We have double kayaks and smaller paddleboards so if you want to get your kids out on the water in the summer holidays, we can help.

- 1 to 1, or 1:2 private lessons. Do your friends paddleboard but you don't feel you have the skills to keep up ?

Private lessons can be during the week as well as the weekend, and at a time, pace and location that suits you.

The cost of a 2 hour session (note these prices are in total, not each) are:

1 or 2 people - £90
3 or 4 people - £120
5 to 8 people - £160

The Whole Hamble

A huge thank you to all 14 people who came down to Botley for the Whole Hamble paddle yesterday.

We started at Botley and paddled all the way down to Warsash - and on the way we saw the river in all its flavours from the calm scenic stretches at Botley, to the open wind swept stretch at Swanwick to the busy, choppy waters near Warsash !

Our next Whole Hamble paddle will be on Monday 13th July at 10am.

Introduction to Paddleboarding on the Sea

Saturday 18th July @ 10am | 2 hours | Warsash | £30

This session is for anyone who is comfortable paddling on flat water like a canal, or the Hamble and would like to start paddling along the coast.

We'll run the session from Warsash where the Hamble joins Southampton Water, and it begins to feel less like a river and more like the sea !

As well as looking at the skills you'll need to move from the river to the sea, we'll also look at some of the knowledge you'll need such as the navigation channel.

Intermediate Paddleboarding

This session is about paddling skilfully rather than just getting from A to B.

We'll look at:

- effective and efficient forward paddling
- ways to turn that are better than just a big sweep on one side
- paddling without having to swap sides
- different stances

We'll also cover some must-know river knowledge such as tides, navigation channel and when you need a licence.

The Whole Hamble

We have one more place on the 'Whole Hamble' paddle this Sunday.

This is an opportunity to paddle the whole length of the Hamble River from the Botley slipway down the Rising Sun in Warsash.

It's an opportunity to see the different landmarks and get to know the different stretches of the river - from the tranquil, tree-lined banks of the upper Hamble to the marina-lined stretches of the lower Hamble.

Paddleboard Rescues

Knowing you can get back on your paddleboard, either by yourself or with the help of another, is absolute must if you plan to paddle without a qualified coach or instructor.

Knowing you can help others back on the their paddleboard gives you the confidence to paddle with other people.

These are covered in the Paddleboard Rescues sessions, as well as towing and dealing with situations like an unconscious paddler or a lost paddle.

We do the session at Alverstoke Creek where we don't need to worry about tides, or other boats and easily get to the shore when we want to.

Introduction to Paddleboarding

We're running our next Introduction to Paddleboarding session on Saturday 4th July.

This is our regular beginners lesson, run from Botley where the river is calm and free from boat traffic. There's even a grass area for the introductions and running through the basics before getting on the water.

We'll assume no prior knowledge and start from the very beginning. However the group sizes are small, so if you'd done some paddleboarding already and either want some formal instruction or just a refresher - we can give you individual tips as the lesson unfolds.

First Aid course

We're running a two day First Aid course in Sarisbury Green on the weekend of 19th and 20th September.

This will be a recognised course, so will tick the PaddleUK box but will also be delivered by someone with decades of real life experience - in other words concentrating on what actually works for paddlers, with plenty of time to practice.

The price of £165 also includes an (optional) evening paddle on the Hamble.

Planning Trips & Intermediate Paddleboarding

Sunday 5th July

We're running a classroom based theory session and a practical skills session on the same day.

Planning Trips is a 3 hour classroom session that will give you the knowledge and insight to plan and organise your own trips. 9.30am - 12.30pm.

Intermediate Paddleboarding is a 2 hour session on water that will make you a technically proficient paddler who paddles skilfully and effectively. 2pm - 4pm.

Both these sessions are happening in the same area - the classroom session at Andark Lake, and the practical session two minutes down the road at Swanwick.

So an ideal combination for a whole day's learning !
