Guts Surfboards is owned and run by former two times European professional surfing champion Chris 'Guts' Griffiths. Chris caught the surfing bug as a child, surfing his first waves at Llangennith where his grandparents had a caravan. He started competing in his late teens and managed to amass a pretty impressive array of titles including over a dozen Welsh and seven British titles to go with his t
wo European professional crowns. He was ranked as high as 5th in the world at his peak and still remains the only European surfer to have beaten icon of the sport Joel Tudor in an ASP event. Chris is also a very accomplished board builder having been hand shaping boards on the Gower for nearly two decades. Chris was the highest rated surfer/shaper on the ASP world longboard tour and won all his major titles on boards he had built himself. As well as his boards being the key to his success, Chris has shaped the boards that top UK surfers Elliot Dudley and Sam Bleakley both won multiple European titles on too. Chris has shaped boards for several other notable surfers over the years including 2 time world champ Beau Young and world amateur champ Michele Demont from Tahiti. In recent years Chris has turned his attention to the new surfing discipline that is Stand Up Paddle surfing. Chris has taken to this new sport like a duck to water has already amassed several British titles. Chris was also involved in the first crossing of the Bristol Channel on a SUP too! Chris opened Guts Surfboards surfshop in 2000 to supply surfing equipment to the local surfers. He is helped to run the shop by his son Connor, himself a multiple Welsh and British Champion, so between them both you can expect top advice on all aspects of surfing and equipment needed. The shop has over 60 new surfboards and paddleboards in stock and a great range of second hand boards too! You will also find a great selection of wetsuits and accessories.
