HOW YOUR SHOULDERS CAN CAUSE YOUR LOW BACK PAIN

The shoulder is the most mobile joint in the body. And having full use and control of that mobility is crucial for a well functioning body.
If you can't get the arm fully overhead, your body will find a way to do so, especially when you need to press a 🏋 heavy weight or sling a ball 🏈 down the field. This is how compensation patterns develop.
The picture on the left shows a common compensation for a lack of shoulder mobility. Because you run out of room at the 🙌 shoulder, that motion comes from somewhere else, and it is almost always from excessive low back extension.
Done enough times, it becomes a ticking time bomb. Your low back becomes very 😣 sensitive to extension and you develop low back pain. Instead, you want to keep the ribs tucked ⤵ down, the pelvis neutral, and get balanced extension from both the thoracic and lumbar spine.
Now that you know what the problem is, the 🛠 fix becomes simple. Make the shoulder work right and the low back stops getting jammed up every time you go overhead. It calms down and your 😃 low back pain goes away!
I'm going to break down how to test yourself and some steps to take to fix this all this week so tag a friend who needs better shoulder mobility and share the wealth!
