Eating well is such a subjective term, and the amount of information out there about nutrition is astronomical.

So let me break it down a little bit because, in reality, knowing every tiny little detail about everything you eat isn't actually a must when trying to eat right.

As a disclaimer, I don't eat to lose weight. I love food, so I try to combine healthy eating with good flavours. My primary goal is to fuel my body so I can be both physically and mentally strong. I understand that everyone's goals are different, but the basics are very similar for everyone.

This is my packed lunch for today. It's simple, and I know I will enjoy it.

The wrap is made with chicken breast slices, grated cheese, some pre-packaged salad including lettuce, tomato, cucumber, red onion and sweetcorn, and little bit of mayo.

Now, I haven't counted the calories or the macros, but I know that this will have a good portion of protein from the chicken and has lots of vitamins from the salad. I've added mayo because it's yummy.

Quark yoghurts taste good, have lots of protein, and are actually really filling.

SnackAJacks are a tasy addition but also don't dent my calorie intake.

Paired with 1.5 litres of water across my work day, I know my body is getting what it needs.

It's also easy. A quick supermarket shop last night, wrap made last night, and 5 minutes to put the rest together this morning.

So don't overthink it. Take it back to the basics, and you can feel good and have the energy to achieve your goals.

And that's February gone in a flash.

I said I'd be accountable this month, so here are my before and after snaps. The pics on the right were taken today - February 29th.

I'm pleased.

I haven't weighed myself at all, but I feel so much better than I did on day one. I've been more mindful about what I'm eating. I've still had treats, and I'll be honest, still a few too many 😅 - but I've also been eating more fruit and veg and mindlessly snacking a lot less.

I've been moving so much more. At least 3 gym days plus 1 football training session per week, and I already feel strong and happy.

I'm not stopping here. Anyone knows that you don't stop at your first success. It's just step one.

| STOP WEEKEND GUILT |

Now, I've been guilty of this myself in the past. I used to cane the exercise on a Monday and restrict my eating because I felt guilty about enjoying myself on the weekend.

But I've come to learn that weekends are meant to be enjoyed. For me, a good long walk and a roast is my favourite way to spend a weekend. And usually a nice bit of chocolate fudge cake to top it off, although they ran out this time 😭

My light beach workout today was the first step to extending my great weekend into a great week too ☀️

Try to keep your weekdays for good habits - eating well, moving, and getting enough sleep. I find work is a lot easier to get through when my body gets what it needs.

Life is about balance. Constant restriction will make you unhappy and, ultimately will make it harder to reach your goals.

Happy February!

I'll be honest, January has been a tough month for me and my loved ones, and I've really let myself go.

That's why in February, I am going to be more mindful and accountable for my actions.

This is me today, on February 1st. Bloated, lethargic, and mentally not 100%.

I'm not perfect. Just because I'm becoming a personal trainer, it doesn't mean I don't have off days or months.

But it's never too late to start. This month, I want to create good routines and habits and feel better about myself.

I'm going to document my journey, showing my wins and my losses. Full accountability.

This is my friend, Adele, who became my first client just over 6 months ago.

When we first started, Adele had never lifted a weight, and it had been years since she'd set foot in a gym.

We started off with home workouts, where I got her familiar with a range of body weight, dumbbell and kettlebell exercises.

After 4 months, I suggested we try the gym to expand our repertoire of exercises. After only a few sessions learning how to use treadmills, barbells, and cable machines, Adele found the confidence to start going to the gym herself. And now she loves it!

My belief is that exercise is a joy and a tool for everyone. There are so many ways to do it, and sometimes we just need a little help to find what works best for us.

That's what I'm here for - to equip you for a healthier and happier life 💪🥗
