Saturday there will be NO CLASSES as we are renovating the mat space

Monday we have Open Mat 12-2pm

We are excited to announce that the world-renowned Justin Flores is coming to The Chris Rees Academy on September 20th!
This is a massive opportunity to learn from one of the most sought after coaches on the planet.
Why is Justin Flores a must-see and why are some of the world's best grappler and MMA fighters travelling to train with him.
- Olympic Pedigree: He served as the 2020 USA Olympic Judo Coach.
- UFC Level Excellence: Coach to UFC legends like Ronda Rousey, Dominick Cruz, and Cat Zingano, through to the modern day stars including Paddy Pimblett.
- The Triple Threat: A 3x USA Judo National Champion, a Division 1 Wrestler, and a BJJ Black Belt.
These are the ONLY UK seminars Justin is teaching, and spaces are strictly limited so that students can benefit from this fantastic learning opportunity.
🗓 THE SCHEDULE: SEPTEMBER 20th
10:00 AM – Foot Sweeps for Nogi: Learn the art of the effortless trip and the "JFlo" timing.
2:00 PM – Wrestling for Jiu-Jitsu: High-percentage takedowns and transitions specifically adapted for the mats.

This is the first release of tickets for BOTH seminars only.

Strictly limited numbers of these tickets are available.

Tickets for individual seminars will be released later today.

Big weekend for the team

Starting off with being inducted into the MMA Cymru hall of fame

Chris is the first Welsh black belt, started MMA Cymru and pioneered BJJ in Wales

Next up we had receiving the MMA Cymru 2025 Fighter of the year

He had a phenomenal 2025 with a standout performance in the IMMAF World Championships

Followed by .hitehouse picking up bronze in his division for the youth MMA Championships

We then had our super competitive BJJ rascals dominating Pro Sport Grappling under the guidance of coach

Who also picked up gold while he was there with the team

A fantastic weekend has got us fired up for another great week of training at the club

See you all tomorrow for No-GI & MMA

We had four competitors out in action Tanto last night with 4 great performances and 3 Ws coming back to Swansea.
First up were and , 2 of our future superstars showing that hard work and commitment pays off, with both of them coming away with submission vistories inder the way full eye of coach .
Next was who took the decision victory after a dominant performance over a powerful opponent.
Last but not least was on the main card against the extremely experienced and and dangerous Zoe Lundy. This was a great match with both competitors taking one round each before Zoe was able to take the W in the third round. Great performance and Dan will be back!

Fantastic weekend for the MMA team with two of guys out in action at and both of them picking up dominant victories.
First up was , Sam has been really putting in the work and it showed, with a highlight reel head kick KO of a very game opponent!
Next up was Ellis, fighting for a title on the main card which was being aired on , against tough international opposition.
This was set be Ellis' last amateur fight before he goes in to the pro ranks, and he really showed his class with a dominant, controlled and devastating display of his well rounded skill set! Winning the title by submission in the second round and signing off an excellent amateur career in style!

Both fighters train under the guidance of and , every Monday and Wednesday at the Academy.
They really are building something special, and there are already future shows lined up so watch this space!

Fight week for as he prepares for yet another title fight this weekend.
The shiny belts are the reward for years of hard work and dedication in training on a journey which started for Ellis many years ago.
Why not start your own journey, step on the mats and who knows, maybe there'll be a picture of you holding a shiny belt one day.
We can't promise belts and glory but we can promise that you'll have fun, get fitter, learn new skills and almost definitely make some new friends along the way.

Coach pics up the win tonight by unanimous decision against a tought and talented opponent

James has trained with us since he was 5 years old

Started in our kids BJJ program, then progressed into MMA

He know helps with coaching in the gym while also training to compete himself

He’s an excellent representing for the academy

And a great example for the younger students
