A calorie deficit will work 100% of the time

That is a fact

But there are factors at play that make it much harder for some people

For example, a woman with PMOS may have a slightly lower BMR

And a man with higher ghrelin levels will be hungrier than normal

Exactly like how someone on the poverty line will find it harder to save money to put aside for a private pension compared to a GP

If that is the case and it’s causing you a lot of headaches then maybe for now it’s best to focus on other things that will still have a positive impact on your health

Want to MELT that body fat from your stomach? 🔥🔥🔥

Just do 4 hours of abs a week - easy 👍

Probably not worthwhile to lose an extra 70g of fat per week

The subjects in the ab group were also 10kg heavier on average so they had more weight to lose

Combined with the fact they did twice as much exercise, the results aren’t particularly surprising

I can think of much easier ways to lose body fat

It’s only fair that you get the results in return for the time and effort you put in

Being dissatisfied can leave you thinking ‘well what’s the point?’

Even though you know that training is good for you

So you start researching more and come away feeling even more confused

Now you have decision fatigue on top of frustration

How good would it be to have someone take away all the thinking for you?

What exercises to do, how many reps & just some reassurance that what you’re doing will actually take you towards your goal

It’s easy to blame other things

Work, kids, lack of time

These might be valid but what’s also changed is how much you move on a daily basis

If you now work a desk job and your diet has stayed the exact same (or even gotten worse)

Then it’s no shock that your weight has crept up over the years

If you genuinely think that you have a hormone imbalance then go to an endocrinologist instead of buying something because a gimpfluencer said it’d stabilise your cortisol 🙄

The easiest way to get the ball rolling is by starting to walk more again

It’s not fancy or exciting

But just like most of the advice you probably already know…

It’s pretty hard to accurately guess the calorie content of a meal or ingredient just by looking at it

However, if you’ve got experience with tracking then it’s slightly easier

You’ve weighed out cheese so many times you can take a look and think “yeah that’s roughly 30g”

But you only know this because you’ve practiced - tracking is a skill at the end of the day

Which is why, for most people*, spending a couple of weeks counting calories is a good idea

You’ll be shocked once you realise how calorie dense those “healthy” Caesar salads & smoothies can be

If someone told you:

“I’ll just eat this salad and it’ll completely undo my months of overeating”

You’d probably laugh in their face

Yet so often I hear people worry that one meal out will wipe out their progress

It’s just one meal

The only way your overeat to such an extent that you gain 1lb of fat in a meal is if you ordered the super duper sharer options for all 3 courses

Yes the scales may go up the day after but weight & fat gain are not the same

So stop stressing out

Most people don’t train hard enough

This is probably you if:

- Your last rep looks exactly like the first
- You aren’t occasionally pulling funny faces
- You’re ready to go again after 30s of rest

If any of these are familiar then you need to up the intensity

You don’t need to train to failure to see results but it’s a good test to see where you’re at and then you can adjust accordingly
