Another shining example of legal extortion ?

£7 for 3 mins to drop my son at Bristol Airport.

We’re taxed to buy a car.
Taxed again to tax it.
Taxed again to insure it.
Went electric to “do the right thing.”

And now? Taxed again just to use the bloody thing.

😳 Take Your Top Off Then 😳

I once had a discussion with a young lad in the gym who said my way of training i.e max 30 mins a few times per week just wasn’t enough.

My flippant response was “ take your top off then “.

It was good fun to be fair but here’s what I know.

Training very briefly. Intensely. With purpose. With good form. Without any wasted effort has allowed me and all my clients to get the results we do because training this way allows us to :
💁‍♂️ be super consistent
💁‍♂️ takes care of the no time argument
💁‍♂️ ensure we stay injury free

I have never fitted in and it used to bother me hugely!

Though my 56 and a bit years have taught me it’s my super power !

Never being “ normal “ the facts :

Lost my mother at a very young age ( 5 )

Thick curly hair ( yes really )

Welsh and different name ( Huw )

Left footed ( right handed )

Love of punk music (not New Romantic )

Very introverted ( but extremely extrovert )

Uncomfortable around people ( only skill as a manager : People )

Loved being a manager ( hated management BS)

Could drink like Dylan Thomas ( hated “ having a pint “)

Don’t believe in god ( hugely spiritual )

Have zero interest in tomorrow ( quality of life and longevity is my goal )

The list goes on but here’s what I know it’s taught me to not worry about too much but also to actually not give a stuff about having stuff.

Possessions mean precisely zero !

Early years were pretty tough and kids are brutal but this stuff shapes you, moulds your beliefs and standards !

The early years were really not great and have stayed with me to this day.

The good the bad and the very ugly right there !

P.s. being in great shape aged 56 is different.

Yesterday I spent €90 on a gym session : mad or not ?

€ 5 train
€ 45 taxis
€ 20 gym day pass
€ 16 food

Ask me to spend €15 on a new t shirt and I’d be on my heels and out of the door !

€4 to park my car and I’ll turn the air deep blue with foul mouthed objections ( car parking is my big ick ).

Coffee in a cardboard cup for €5 and I would probably laugh in your face !

All of the above are absolutely fine of course.

I just don’t value them.

I do however value my health and well being and spending that on getting to a great gym ?

All day long.

It’s never a time , cost or motivation issue.

It’s a value situation !!!!

Ps. What a great place this was by the way !

Pps. Is it normal for a man of my age to get so excited about a new gym ? 🤔

Part time postman to International Fitness Business Owner ! ( can’t believe I’m saying that statement ).

DHP is 10 years old next month. How the hell did that happen ?

As always it begs for reflection !

Fair to say that my childhood wasn’t great : losing a parent early, dis functional family set up , I could go on !

Went to the toughest school on gods earth and emerged with a handful of “ O “ levels.

University wasn’t on the cards at that time. Money for beer and survival was needed !

Went straight into work as a part time postman. Pretty low level entry point and I loved it but I knew I was capable of a bit more !

I’ll skip the resume ( a fair bit happened in between ) and fast forward !

Clients in the UK , The Middle East, USA and across Europe !

Just crazy eh ?

Ps. The hairstyle has changed a bit as well !

You don’t need a coach. YouTube and AI will do it !

I watched a YouTube fitness guy yesterday who said he didn’t need a coach and ChatGPT did his plan.

Brilliant.

Then he said he changed several exercises to suit his likes.

He ( not AI ) made those changes.

He ( not AI ) knows his body

He ( not AI ) analysed his lifestyle , likes , habits , traits , abilities , strengths , availability ( I could go on)

Yesterday I called a client out for missing a workout !

Yesterday we discussed the reasoning for missing that session !

Yesterday we planned the way forward !

Accountability . I’ll leave that with you !
