The best ways to get the most out of a detox!

We can all admit we have become a bit too indulgent at times and a detox can be one of the best ways to start feeling healthier. If you’re just starting out with changing your lifestyle/diet this can be a great way to kick it off! Here are 4 tips to start a detox:

(Always be careful when changing any of your diet to make sure it won’t affect your health negatively)

1. Limit alcohol

I know it might sound a bit sad coming into the Christmas season but reducing your alcohol consumption puts you in a great position to detox properly. Your liver functions to detox your body and alcohol works against this. Reducing consumption (or none at all) would allow your liver to work to the best of its ability!

2. Make sleep a priority

Rest and recovery is an important factor, not just in term of exercise but when your diet is involved. Naturally out bodies detox when we sleep and removes any by-products accumulated throughout the day.

3. Up your water intake

Not only does this help with exercise performance but it allows your body to flush out any toxins. It will not only help with detoxing but aids body temperature, joint lubrication and digestion.

4. Cut down sugar

Again it’s not very ‘fun’ but can really help! Cutting out unnecessary sugar will make sure your liver isn’t getting jammed with fat. A healthy liver is predominantly the biggest factor of creating an effective detox. Cutting out junk food and sugars will help immensely!

Overall, your liver is one of the most important organs when starting a healthy lifestyle. It will not only boost your energy and mood but will give you a great base to start exercising and implementing a healthier diet.
