🏀 We're back on the court, and we're keeping the momentum going! 🏀

​Fresh off an incredible season where our women's team were YBL Women's 2 Championship Finalists, the Swadlincote Lasers Women's Sunday training officially returns on Sunday, 5th July 2026! 💜💛

​Whether you want to train alongside championship finalists, get fit, meet a fantastic group of women in Lasers, or just learn the basics of the game, there is a spot for you on our squad.

We pride ourselves on being welcoming to ALL abilities, from absolute beginners picking up a basketball for the first time, to experienced players looking for their next competitive challenge.

​Our sessions focus on technical skill development, court fitness, and building the team spirit that took us all the way to the finals last season.

Come down, support each other, have a laugh, and unlock your potential in a positive environment. Let's get to work! 💪

IT’S BACK, SLAM JAM BASKETBALL IN SWADLINCOTE!

Swadlincote Lasers Basketball Club presents Slam Jam to Swadlincote and Burton-on-Trent surrounding area.

Slam Jam is ’s official junior programme designed for children aged between 7 and 11 years.

The perfect way to start playing basketball through games, offering children a fun way to learn the basic skills of the game!

Normally it’s £43 for 6 weeks, but it’s now just £30 at a discounted rate. Everyone who signs up will receive a bunch of Basketball England branded goodies. Still a good bargain with 5 weeks remaining.

We have assembled a team of coaches to offer this exciting opportunity to the local community.

Basketball referees and table officials are needed!

As the number of basketball players in our area continues to grow, we need more volunteers to support our basketball community. We can help you get qualified and provide support for level 1 refereeing or table officiating.

This course is available to anyone who wishes to become a Referee or Table official level 1.

A huge shout‑out to South Derbyshire District Council for their amazing collaboration and support. Your openness, positive attitude and willingness to explore new ideas have helped deliver a bigger, better, future‑ready multi‑sports hall for our community. We appreciate you!

And of course, a big thank you to Basketball England for supporting us along the way.

This win shows exactly what’s possible when we approach the council with curiosity, we respectfully challenge, assume positive intent and have a collaborative mindset. Together, we’ve shaped a facility that will elevate sport across South Derbyshire.

📣 Plans for a major new leisure and office development in Swadlincote were approved this week at the Council's Development Management Committee.

The proposed development, just off William Nadin Way, will replace the existing Green Bank Leisure Centre and support the wider regeneration of Swadlincote town centre.

The new facility will include:
🏀 A six-court sports hall
🏊‍♂️ Swimming facilities
🏋️‍♀️ A state-of-the-art gym and fitness studios
☕ A café and flexible community spaces
🏢 New office accommodation for the Council.

🙏 And thanks to you, the plans are now set to deliver even more for South Derbyshire! After engaging with residents, community organisations, local sports clubs and national sporting bodies, the sports hall has been significantly expanded from the original concept design, creating a larger, future-proofed facility, capable of supporting a wider range of sporting activity, training and events for both local clubs and the wider region.

👷‍♀️ Work is set to start Summer 2026 and be completed by Spring 2028.
