🐴 BLACK CAT EQUESTRIAN CENTRE – LESSON UPDATE 🐴

We just wanted to let all of our lovely clients know about a small but important change to our riding lesson policy.

Unfortunately, due to the increasing number of late cancellations and missed lessons, all riding lessons must now be paid for in advance or at the start of your lesson.

Our lessons are available on limited days and at specific times, so we strongly advise riders to try to keep their regular lesson slots wherever possible. This helps us maintain a consistent schedule and ensures that spaces remain available for everyone.

We completely understand that sometimes things happen and plans can change. However, as lesson spaces are limited and we have horses, instructors and facilities booked specifically for each lesson, any lesson cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice will still be charged in full.

Likewise, missed lessons or no-shows will also be charged.

Giving us at least 24 hours’ notice allows us the opportunity to offer the space to another rider and helps us keep our lessons running fairly and efficiently.

We really appreciate everyone’s understanding and continued support. ❤️

Our aim is to keep providing the best possible experience for both our riders and our horses, and this policy helps us to do just that.

Thank you for your continued support of Black Cat Equestrian Centre 🐴🖤

Please speak to us if you have any questions regarding the new policy.

🐴 BHS – CHANGING LIVES THROUGH HORSES 🐴
A new opportunity at Black Cat Equestrian Centre!

We are so excited to be offering our new BHS course, designed to give children and young people the opportunity to learn, grow and develop through their involvement with horses. ❤️

Horses can teach us so much more than how to ride. They can help build confidence, independence, patience, responsibility, communication and teamwork, while giving children the chance to learn practical skills in a fun, supportive and hands-on environment.

🎓 Perfect for school children

Our BHS sessions can complement a child’s education by providing practical learning outside of the classroom.

Working with horses encourages children to:
🐴 Develop responsibility and a strong work ethic
🐴 Build confidence and self-esteem
🐴 Improve communication and teamwork
🐴 Learn about animal welfare and care
🐴 Develop practical and problem-solving skills
🐴 Understand the importance of patience, routine and commitment
🐴 Work towards recognised BHS qualifications and achievements

It’s a fantastic way of bringing real-life learning to life through horses.

📚 Ideal for home-educated children

For home-educated children, our course can provide a wonderful opportunity to learn alongside other young people in a practical environment.

Rather than simply learning from a book, children can learn by doing — handling horses, learning about their care and welfare, understanding stable management and developing their knowledge and skills step by step.

It can also provide a fantastic opportunity for children to make friends, work as part of a team and gain confidence in a welcoming environment.

❤️ More than just horses

At Black Cat Equestrian Centre, we believe horses have the ability to change lives.

Whether a child dreams of working with horses in the future, wants to work towards a BHS qualification, or simply wants to gain valuable life skills and confidence, this course can be a fantastic starting point.

You don’t have to be aiming for a career with horses to benefit. The skills gained through working with horses can be carried into school, further education, work and everyday life.

🌟 Spaces for our new course are now available!

If you would like more information or would like to book your child onto the course, please send us a message at Black Cat Equestrian Centre with your child’s age, riding experience and whether they are school or home educated.

📩 Message us today to find out more and secure your place!

BHS Stage 1 at Black Cat Equestrian Centre

At Black Cat Equestrian Centre, we believe that learning about horses is just as important as learning to ride them. That’s why we’re proud to support riders and horse enthusiasts working towards their BHS Stage 1, whether their goal is to work professionally with horses, improve their own knowledge, or simply become a more confident and capable horse owner.

The BHS Stage 1 is a fantastic starting point for anyone who wants to develop their understanding of horse care and management. It provides valuable, practical knowledge that can benefit people from all different backgrounds and with a wide range of goals.

🐴 A great foundation for working with horses

For those looking to pursue a career within the equestrian industry, BHS Stage 1 can be an important first step. It introduces the essential skills and knowledge needed when working around horses, including everyday care, handling, grooming, feeding, stable duties and maintaining a safe environment.

It can help riders begin to understand the responsibility involved in caring for horses and provide a strong foundation to build on as they progress through further BHS qualifications.

🏇 Perfect for the everyday horse owner

You don’t have to want a career with horses to benefit from BHS Stage 1.

For the general horse owner, the knowledge gained can be incredibly useful in everyday life. Understanding how to safely handle your horse, recognise what is normal for them, carry out routine care and maintain good stable management can make a huge difference to both horse and owner.

It can also give owners greater confidence when making decisions about their horse’s day-to-day needs and knowing when something may require further professional advice.

🌟 Building confidence

For many people, gaining knowledge is one of the best ways to build confidence.

Whether you are a new horse owner, returning to horses after a break, a parent wanting to understand more about your child’s pony, or simply someone who wants to improve their horsemanship, working towards Stage 1 gives you an opportunity to learn in a structured and practical way.

It’s not just about passing an exam — it’s about developing skills that you can take with you into everyday horse life.

👩‍🎓 Suitable for a wide range of people

BHS Stage 1 can be beneficial to:

* Riders wanting to improve their overall horse knowledge.
* New or less experienced horse owners.
* Parents of children who ride.
* Pony owners wanting to become more confident with their horse’s care.
* Anyone considering a career working with horses.
* Riders returning to the equestrian world after time away.
* Young people looking to begin building qualifications for their future.
* Experienced horse owners who want to refresh and formalise their knowledge.

❤️ It’s about much more than an exam

At Black Cat Equestrian Centre, we see qualifications such as BHS Stage 1 as an opportunity to develop good, knowledgeable and responsible horse people.

Having a good understanding of the basics can improve the relationship between horse and owner and help ensure that horses receive the care, attention and understanding they deserve.

Whether you dream of working with horses professionally or simply want to feel more confident looking after your own horse, there is always something new to learn.

BHS Stage 1 is a great place to start — and at Black Cat Equestrian Centre, we’re here to help you every step of the way. 🐴❤️

🐴 Off-Site Lessons

We’re also excited to announce that Lauren is now offering lessons off site for riders with their own horses.

This is a great opportunity for those who may not ride at Black Cat Equestrian Centre but would like some help with their own horse, whether that’s improving their riding, working on particular areas, building confidence or simply having some guidance and support.

If you have your own horse and would be interested in off-site lessons with Lauren, please get in touch for more information and to discuss your requirements.

🐴 Black Cat Equestrian Centre – Summer Update 🌞

What a busy and exciting summer we’ve had here at Black Cat Equestrian Centre!

The summer months have been packed with lessons, training, camps, horse care and plenty of exciting developments behind the scenes. We’ve loved seeing so many familiar faces, as well as welcoming new riders to the centre.

🏕️ Summer Camps

One of the highlights of the summer has been running two fantastic camps for the children.

Both camps were full of fun, learning and, of course, lots of horses! The children had the opportunity to spend extra time around the horses, develop their riding and stable-management skills, and enjoy being part of a team.

It’s been wonderful to see their confidence grow and to watch them build stronger relationships with the horses. We hope everyone who joined us had as much fun as we did!

🐎 Looking After Our Horses

The health, comfort and wellbeing of our horses is always one of our biggest priorities.

Over the summer we’ve had our saddler, Caroline, visit the centre to check the saddles and make sure they are correctly fitted to each of the horses. Regular saddle checks are incredibly important, particularly with horses whose shape can change throughout the year.

We’ve also had the dentist visit to carry out dental checks and treatment on our riding school horses, as well as our other horses. Keeping on top of their dental care helps ensure they remain comfortable and happy, both in and out of the saddle.

We have also had our vet inspection of the riding school horses, and we are very pleased to say that they all passed. It’s fantastic to have that reassurance that our riding school horses are fit, healthy and ready to continue doing the jobs they love.

🎓 BHS Training & Exams

Another exciting part of the summer has been our BHS training.

We have been working hard with two groups preparing for their BHS Stage 1 exams. We’ve put plenty of time and effort into preparing everyone, covering both riding and stable-management skills and making sure they were as prepared and confident as possible.

We’re absolutely delighted that the first set of results is now back — and they have ALL PASSED! 🎉

A huge congratulations to everyone involved. It’s a fantastic achievement and one that everyone should be incredibly proud of. All the hard work, dedication and training has certainly paid off.

And we’re not stopping there!

We are now starting training towards BHS Stage 2, giving our riders the opportunity to continue progressing and developing their knowledge and skills.

We are also looking at starting another group for anyone interested in training towards their BHS Stage 1 exam.

If this is something you might be interested in, please get in touch and I can give you all the details about the training, requirements and what is involved.

🌟 Exciting Plans for the Future

As well as keeping busy with everything that is already happening at Black Cat Equestrian Centre, we are also looking at ways we can expand and develop the centre in the future.

We have some exciting new ideas in the pipeline, and we’re looking forward to seeing where they take us. Our aim is to continue building on what we already offer and create even more opportunities for our riders, children and horses.

There is lots to look forward to, and we can’t wait to share more with you as our plans develop!

🖤 A Huge Thank You

Finally, we’d like to say a massive thank you to everyone who has supported Black Cat Equestrian Centre over the summer.

Whether you’ve been coming for regular lessons, joined us for one of our camps, taken part in BHS training, or simply supported us from the sidelines — we really appreciate every one of you.

It has been a very busy summer, but it’s also been a hugely rewarding one. Seeing our riders progress, our horses happy and healthy, and our little equestrian community continuing to grow makes all the hard work worthwhile.

Here’s to an exciting autumn and an even more exciting future for Black Cat Equestrian Centre! 🐴🖤
