Resurrection Mixed Martial Arts Academy, was founded in 2001 by professional MMA fighter Christian Smith, the club mainly specializes in Mixed Martial Arts, Submission Wrestling, BJJ, Boxing, and Elite Fitness. Resurrection MMAA joined Shooters MMA in 2005 and each year since then send their instructors to Sweden on different courses updating their information and learning the latest techniques. The academy has a large range of students from 5 years old through to adults in their 50s and from complete beginners to professional fighters who all train in a controlled and friendly environment. Whether you want to just get fit and gain confidence or want to compete in the sports we offer, then our club has classes tailor made for you.

What a day and where to begin!🤯

First up Marie had her group stage fights beating her first opponent a Ukrainian BJJ blue belt by unanimous decision. Second up she faced a Slovakian Judo Brown belt and secured a second round TKO win via ground and pound sending her through to the semi Finals.

Ewan’s group stage fights started off a little rocky losing his first match to Hungary. He then came out and beat his second opponent from Saudi Arabia and his third opponent from Ukraine. Ewan placed joint first however because the other lad had faster finish times he proceeded to the elimination fights. Really frustrating as the Ukraine lad who went through lost to Ewan in the group stages and Ewan dominated the fight against him.

To finish the day we had Marie fighting an IMMAf veteran from Lebanon. Now Marie lost the first round but came back in the second to win round 2 and then came out again in the third to win that round also. However, Marie had a point deduction in round three due to an illegal face shot. Resulting in a draw. Because of IMMAF rules, if a fight ends in a draw the opponent who committed the foul loses out on proceeding to the finals. Believe me, IMMAF rules and documents were checked and officials were approached by myself! We were shown the scorecards and 3 judges gave Marie the fight 2 rounds to 1 so if it hadn’t of been for the point deduction Marie would have gone into the final. Bitter pill to swallow and really frustrating but Marie has secured herself a Bronze medal at not just her first IMMAF’s but also her debut MMA fight. Winning 3 fights in 1 day and just losing out to a point deduction.

We are so incredibly proud of the both of you and you have both represented England and Team Resurrection in style. We asked you to give it your all coming in as the under dogs and you gave us that and more! You have given everything to prepare for this the past 8 weeks and it has shown today, you’ve done yourself proud! This is just the beginning and it will not be the last IMMAF sees of you!! Back next year to claim what is yours!👊🏻
