The impressive record of Hanoverian horses internationally underlines the importance of the relationship between a sound breeding programme and the highest level of achievement in sport. rian Horse represents today one of the most prominent breeds of riding horses in the world. A Hanoverian is a warmblood horse originating in Germany, which is often seen in the Olympic Games and other competitive English riding styles, and have won gold medals in all three equestrian Olympic competitions. Originally a carriage horse, infusions of Thoroughbred blood lightened it to make it more agile and useful for competition. The Hanoverian is known for a good temperament, athleticism, beauty, and grace. The British Hanoverian Horse Society holds a number of events throughout the year. In addition to the main annual show there are also a number of regional foal shows where foals can be shown. Mares can also be graded at these events. Depending on demand, there may be one or more Mare Performance Tests held in addition to the one at the annual show. 🐴 It’s great to be back on the road visiting our members today!

Kate and Katy travelled north to just west of Newcastle, spending the day catching up with one of our long-standing breeders. There’s nothing quite like seeing the horses behind the pedigrees and witnessing first-hand the results of years of careful breeding, dedication and expertise.

It’s always a pleasure to visit our breeders, hear about their successes, discuss future plans, and spend time with some beautifully bred Hanoverians.

Unfortunately, the torrential rain meant there were no photos today... 🤣☔ Instead, here’s a picture of the Angel of the North.
