The British Hanoverian Horse Society (BHHS) is a full daughter society of the Verband Hannoverscher Warmblutzüchter (Hanoverian Warmblood Breeders’ Association) in Germany. The impressive record of Hanoverian horses internationally underlines the importance of the relationship between a sound breeding programme and the highest level of achievement in sport. There can be no question that the Hanoverian Horse represents today one of the most prominent breeds of riding horses in the world. A Hanoverian is a warmblood horse originating in Germany, which is often seen in the Olympic Games and other competitive English riding styles, and have won gold medals in all three equestrian Olympic competitions. Originally a carriage horse, infusions of Thoroughbred blood lightened it to make it more agile and useful for competition. The Hanoverian is known for a good temperament, athleticism, beauty, and grace. The British Hanoverian Horse Society holds a number of events throughout the year. In addition to the main annual show there are also a number of regional foal shows where foals can be shown. Mares can also be graded at these events. Depending on demand, there may be one or more Mare Performance Tests held in addition to the one at the annual show. 🌟 Highlight of the Week 🌟

Meet Newton Bon Chance, affectionately known at home as Bilbo. 💙

At the British Hanoverian Annual Show, expertly piloted by Alex Baker, Bilbo took 🥇 1st place in the 5-year-old class, scoring an impressive 9.6, including a fantastic 10 for perspective!
Even more special… it was his very first show! What a way to start. 👏

Bilbo also comes from a very good maternal line, the same family as Newton Sylvanite, who competed with Fiona Bigwood at the World Young Horse Championships, and Newton Astro Nascente, who has represented at Junior and Young Rider European level. ⭐

And our favourite thing about Bilbo? It’s not just how easy he is in every way… we absolutely love those floppy ears of his!😂🫶

We would like to say a very big thank you once again to Gijs and Thomas, who went above and beyond at this year’s Annual Show – running horses for our members throughout the day and into the evening! 🏃‍♂️🐴

Quite how many miles they covered, we dread to think.

Their skill, professionalism and seemingly endless supply of energy were incredible. It was truly wonderful to watch them present the horses so beautifully and help so many of our members.

They barely seemed to stop all day – or evening – and yet somehow every horse was presented with the same enthusiasm and attention.

Gijs & Thomas, you were absolute stars – thank you! ⭐️⭐️
