🟢🟡 CHIDDINGFOLD WEEKEND 🟡🟢

Unfortunately, we couldn’t retain the Ian Durrant Trophy, with Chiddingfold coming out on top in both games—but as ever, the weekend was about far more than just the cricket.

One major positive was a brilliant weekend from Harrison Butterfield, who scored an unbeaten 31 and took a wicket on Sunday before following it up with 30 and figures of 3–38 on Monday.

His performances saw him win both Bob’s Pot, awarded to the young player of the weekend, and the Glusburn Player of the Match, as voted for by the opposition. We believe he may be the first Glusburn player to win both awards in the same weekend—fully deserved after 61 runs and four wickets across the two games. Congratulations, Harrison! 👏

A massive thank you to everyone who travelled down and made the weekend what it was. Most importantly, thank you once again to our hosts at Chiddingfold for their impeccable hospitality across both games, including the fantastic food—and to the football club for what was certainly a somewhat memorable night…

Another brilliant Chiddingfold weekend in the books. Until next year! 🍻🏏

Well… here we are. August Bank Holiday.

Glusburn are heading back to Chiddingfold for the annual two-day “cricket weekend” and anyone going purely for the cricket is probably in the wrong place.

For once, we’re travelling down WITH the trophy. Will we bring it back? Who knows. Cricket second, lads.

Monday’s start feels optimistic after what Sunday night normally looks like… although some of us play better pi**ed. Might not turn up on time, mind.

The club has had to add a GPS tracker to the captain this year, so at least we’ll know he’s in bed by 10. after last years poor effort how’s he getting home without his dad to ‘walk him back’! Won’t be out of it by 11 though… and we start at 11!! Good look!!

And we all know we’re on about Browny who’s possibly the greatest tosser in the village and, based on last year, holds his b**r like wet tissue paper.

New year. New tour. Same idiots. Same great weekend!

The Bank Holiday weekend starts here… and it’s a busy one.

This Saturday sees both sides kick off a triple-header weekend with a league game before the club heads south for Surrey on Sunday.

The First XI are on the road to Riddlesden, while the Second XI are back at home against Wilsden.

Hopefully a couple of league wins to get the weekend started properly… before we swap league cricket for questionable tour decisions.

Not a bad way to bowl your first spell of the season…

After spending pretty much the entire year behind the sticks, Ryan Ridehalgh was finally let loose with the ball on Saturday….. and apparently had a point to prove.

10 overs | 2 maidens | 6 wickets | 21 runs

With Haworth sitting nicely at 80/1, Ryan helped turn the innings completely on its head as they were dismissed for 119.

And because that apparently wasn’t enough, he then decided to have some fun with the bat…

Sunday sees a Glusburn XI take on our main sponsors, the The Old White Bear XI, for bragging rights and a rather ph***ic looking trophy…

The game starts at 1pm, but let’s be honest, most people are here for the bar and BBQ!!

And more importantly… THE BAR OPENS AT 12! 🍺

So get as many down you as possible before some very questionable cricket that wouldn’t look out of place in our 1st team on a Saturday…

Beers on the pitch? No problem. 🍻🏏

We may even have a day off from the fines… I said MAYBE.

A massive well done to Raja, who brought up his first half-century for the Glus on Saturday with a superb 75 off just 45 balls, including 8 fours and 4 sixes!

Coming in at 88/4, Raja wasted no time settling in, putting on a brilliant 86-run partnership with H and launching the ball to all parts as he helped steer the 1st XI towards victory.
