🏏 Cup Action This Weekend 🏏

Match Ball Sponsor: AVAILABLE
Social Media Sponsor: TAC Mechanical & Electrical Ltd

If the weather holds up, tomorrow sees the final round of the cup group stages. With the 1st XI once again hitting the road, this time making the trip to Riddlesden. A win should secure progression to the next stage… plenty to play for then!

Back at Park Field, the 2nd XI host Skipton CI. While progression may be out of reach, there’s still plenty on the line as the lads look to build momentum for the remaking league fixtures this season.

🟢🟡 Team Announcement (Attempt 7) 🟡🟢

After a brief social media hiatus (aka me forgetting to post), here’s tomorrow’s 1st XI for a blockbuster bottom-of-the-league encounter with Airedale.

Given the shocking effort at naming the team in this morning’s group chat, I’m fairly confident this is the right XI... but no guarantees.

Maximum fine for the skipper already. An impressive start to the weekend.

🚨 A Very Late Team Announcement 🚨

Yes, I know it’s late. I can only apologise. In my defence, I had the day off work, training, and then the pub… so at least one of those is my usual excuse for being absolutely useless at posting these on time.

Anyway, here are your teams for tomorrow’s cup games…

The 1st XI make the trip to Thornton-in-Craven, with Andy Birks officially back in the side for the first time since approximately 1996/97. A return almost as long-awaited as the first Friday night Im not in the Old White Bear.

The 2nd XI are at home yet again. No idea who’s sorting these fixtures, but there’s clearly some preferential treatment going on somewhere. They host Silsden, which will be a tough ask given they’re currently top of Division 2.

A tough test away to the league leaders, with the lads looking to secure their first league win of the season.

Good luck to everyone involved, and here’s hoping the weather holds off.

🟢🟡 GAME DAY 🟡🟢

It’s game day, and hopefully the weather eases enough for us to get some cricket in, although the forecast isn’t looking too promising.

The first team travel to league leaders Gargrave, while the second team host Cowling, with both sides hoping to record their first league wins of the season.

Fingers crossed the rain stays away.

🎙️ AND THEY’RE OFF IN THE CLUB FANTASY LEAGUE… 🎙️

Admittedly the commentary team has arrived a couple of weeks late to the track… but the Fantasy League is well underway and there’s already movement all across the field!

First, a look at the standout runners from the opening weeks… apologies to whoever had the MVP in week 1, I never looked at the high scorer!

🌟 Week 2 MVP: Harrison Butterfield storming home with a powerful 204-point finish
🌟 Week 3 MVP : Ryan Ridehalgh producing another commanding run with 184 points

👑 And in the race for the overall crown, it’s Ryan Ridehalgh leading the pack as Season MVP with a towering 313 points

Now to the main event… the league standings.

Coming around the bend and currently setting the pace is KevsKillers, after recording the second-highest score of the week. The early leader has opened up a slender advantage… but with the manager currently enjoying the sunshine in Greece, questions remain over whether the pace can be maintained deep into the season.

Tracking closely in second is On My Beeriod!, expertly guided by 1st Team skipper Browny. Just 40 points off the lead, this one is sitting comfortably in the slipstream and waiting to make a move.

Further back in the field we find Can I Have Third Leg, who’s lost ground after confidently declaring to Brad last week: “Only talk to me when you’re above me in the table.” Since then it’s been a wobble down the home straight, dropping two places and perhaps looking nervously over the shoulder.

Because charging through the pack with the week’s highest total is Over The Border, managed by Brad himself. Currently sitting in 8th position, but only 238 points behind JB… and with momentum very much on his side.

The pack is tightening… nerves are beginning to show… and with plenty of fixtures left in the season, this title race is wide open

🏏 UP NEXT – 2nd XI 🏏

The 2nd XI are back at home this weekend and, after winning last week with just 10 men, they’ll be hoping an extra player gives them even more of a boost as they host Cowling CC!

⏰ 1:30pm start

After two tough league outings and just two points on the board, the side will be looking to use last week’s cup victory as a springboard for their league campaign. Sitting at the bottom means there’s only one way to go — up! 💪
