Congratulations to our own Millie Hixon winning the 2026 North England Women’s Amateur Championship 🏆

Millie began the week with an excellent opening 70 at Goswick Golf Club, before rounds of 74 and 71 here at Seaton Carew saw her finish level par across 54 holes, earning her a five-shot victory.

An Update on Our New Driving Range & Practice Facilities 🏌️
As many of you will have noticed, construction work has now begun on our new driving range and practice facilities.
Over the coming 12–18 months there will be some disruption in the form of increased vehicle traffic on the roads approaching the club, and we appreciate your patience during this period. We want to reassure members that there will be no impact on the course itself — you can continue to enjoy your golf as normal throughout the construction period.
When complete, the new facilities will include:
🟢 A brand new driving range extending to 300 yards
🟢 Two full short holes and an improved practice area
🟢 Enhanced drainage across the site
🟢 Additional car parking
A question we've been asked a few times — will there be a short game practice area?
The answer is a resounding yes! The plans include two full short holes plus a dedicated chipping area complete with multiple bunkers — so whether you're working on your pitching, chipping or bunker play, you'll have everything you need right on site.
We'll keep you updated as work progresses. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to speak to a committee member.

Yesterday Darlington Golf Club were kind enough to host the first Durham County Golf Union Juniors events of 2026.

The Green (Gross) and Crombie (Net) Medals were contested by 30 Juniors from around the county.

The stand out performance in the Gross competition was from the winner Harry Sheen of Wearside Golf Club who carded a very impressive 69 (-1).

Club Captain, Craig Mathieson.

For the past 19 years, Craig has organised fundraising events for Niemann-Pick UK in memory of his niece Lucy and her siblings. His annual charity golf day has raised significant funds and awareness for the charity over the years.

Niemann-Pick UK was recently honoured with The King’s Award for Voluntary Service — the highest award given to voluntary groups in the UK — and, in recognition of his long-standing support and fundraising efforts, Craig attended a Royal Garden Party along with Dave Roberts the charity's Trustee.

A fantastic and well-deserved honour which we’re sure all members will join us in congratulating him on.

Well done Craig!
