Red Star Sambo Sunderland Gym ran by Team GB’s Barry Gibson - World Masters Bronze medallist, Commonwealth Combat Sambo champion, 5x British champion and 2x Scottish champion.

Promoting Sambo and Combat Sambo in the North East of England - sessions ran by Team GB member and captain, also current Commonwealth Combat Sambo Champion. This club is the only one recognised by the British Sambo Federation. Sambo is a Russian system of fighting used by the military and the police. There are two branches of the sport, combat sambo which mirrors MMA only with the use of a jacket (kurtka in Russian), and sport sambo which resembles judo and wrestling.
