Red hot 🔥 day for the boys today, but that didn’t stop us from working hard throughout the game and taking all 3 points back to Willington, before the game kicked off we knew we were up against it obviously moving up a division and playing a team that has currently not been beaten in the spring cup yet, everything about today’s performance was pure class, from the structure, teamwork, commitment, resilience, determination, teamwork and the football ⚽️, we looked strong from the the first whistle to the final whistle and didn’t let our foot of the gas once, was an all round brilliant performance form every single individual today, they all played there part in today’s victory and was nice to see the confidence back in them and getting back to winning ways after a tough game last week so well done boys 💙

A well deserved Man Of The Match award goes to Mr Olly Rowton today not only for his 2 goals today and btw the were class, but because of his overall game today and causing problems all game for the oppositions defenders and keeper, well done 👏 buddy proud of you 👍

Before the boys kicked off today we kind of knew what we were up against and just wanted to keep showing determination and defend in numbers to keep the score down as Wallsend have been totally outplaying teams in the division we are in and scoring 10+ goals a game and not conceding, they play in the top division on a Sunday and it really showed why today, but the Willington blues stood strong and went into this game with a system and change of game plan they had not played before and wasn’t the Willington way but they followed everything instruction given to them individually and displayed great attitude when today really wasn’t about scoring goals it was all about just man marking and defending all game, the score doesn’t do these boys justice at all but they way they played really did unsettle Wallsend when they were attacking and could see we were frustrating them because we had 7 men in front off them all game, honestly what a team performance they all put in today and worked for each other and both coaches Craig and Dave couldn’t be prouder of them all for keeping there heads and pushing hard all the way to the final whistle, so well done boys absolutely handfuls of positives to take away from today.

Man of the match was a hard one today but in coach Craig’s eyes he gave it to Jaxon for some superb saves and keeping his head held high every single second off the game and Kobi for playing out of his normal position sitting in front of awesome all game and really giving everything and helping push the team and keeping there heads high absolutely fantastic stuff lads loved to see this today.

We will be back stronger next week and back to the Willington way UTWB 💙⚽️🤍

What an absolutely fantastic weekend! 💙⚽️🏆

Willington Blues travelled to Blackpool to take part in the Blackpool Tournament and spend a weekend making memories together.

Day 1 started with us playing against some Premier Division teams, and although we were a little out of our depth at times, the boys never gave up and made sure they took positives into Day 2.

Day 2 arrived and the lads came out strong 💪 We finished the group stages strongly to book our place in the knockout rounds. The boys dug deep, showed unbelievable determination, and battled through the quarter-finals and semi-finals to earn a place in the final.

Unfortunately, we fell short in the final, but honestly, what an incredible achievement from this group of lads. I’m proud of every single one of them for everything they’ve done this weekend. It’s been brilliant spending time together and I’m genuinely excited for what the future holds for this team.

Keep your heads held high, lads, and remember everything we’ve achieved this season as a group:
🏆 League Champions
🏆 Future Legends Tournament Winners
🥈 Blackpool Tournament Runners-Up

That speaks volumes about this team and the character of these boys.

Support Willington Youth Blues on their first ever trip to Blackpool for the Blackpool Tournament!

The lads are officially leaving County Durham and heading to the bright lights of Blackpool… poor Blackpool doesn’t know what’s about to hit it. 😂

The squad travelling down to cause absolute chaos on and off the pitch is:

⚽ Jaxon Lowery
⚽ Awesome Weetman
⚽ Olly Rowton
⚽ Lucas Norman
⚽ William Foster
⚽ Harry Marshall
⚽ Declan Irwin
⚽ Kobi Johns
⚽ Ollie Sproat
⚽ Harry Mew
⚽ Oliver Fullarton
⚽ Elliot Airey

The boys have got the talent, teamwork, dedication, and enough energy to keep every parent awake until midnight all weekend.

To all the teams down there — good luck trying to get the ball off these lads… and good luck to the hotel staff as well. 😅

Most importantly boys, enjoy every second, make memories for life, and remember… what happens in Blackpool stays in Blackpool (unless one of the parents gets it on Facebook first).

A massive shoutout to everyone who helped with fundraising for the trip. Without your support this wouldn’t have been possible, and everyone at Willington Youth Blues is hugely grateful.

Now go down there and do us proud, lads! 💙⚽

Tough one to take today for the blues, we were missing a couple players today through injury, but the boys did give it there all, few bad decisions from the referee today that got the boys back ups but take nothing away from Spennymoor they did play some very good football ⚽️ but you win some you lose some and that’s football, still proud of every single one off them for pushing to the final whistle and a few brilliant stops from Spennys keeper secured them a win in the spring cup, we will battle on and go again down at Blackpool next weekend.

Massive well done for Harry Marshall for his 2 goals.

Massive shout out to Jaxon Lowrey for coming to support his team mates whilst out injured and resting for Blackpool, love the dedication bud 🧤⚽️

And a Massive Massive Well done to Oliver Fullarton for putting the gloves 🧤 on today and playing a blinder and making some class saves when called upon.

What a statement these boys made today after moving up to division 6 spring cup and what a performance for coach Craig to witness after being on holiday for the previous 2 games. Honestly the way these boys controlled the game today and all played there football with confidence was truly outstanding from start to finish, the way they played as a team today was incredible and coach Craig even made a statement saying it’s probably the best game he’s seen footballing wise all season which is a massive statement considering these bunch of lads have been a pleasure to watch all season but it shows that the development and confidence within them all is only going in one direction and I truly believe there is no stopping them at the minute and are only going to keep improving week in and week out as a team.

Man of the match was a hard one today because each individual showed there class today but Ollie Sproat had to get it not only for his goal because that was an absolute peach in itself but the fact that he’s been out of confidence lately and today he played with confidence and showed his team his ability that they all no he has and most importantly it was good to see that smile back on his face so well done 👏 Ollie well deserved mate and keep that confidence and keep playing with that smile 😊 and the rest will come.

Well well well, what can I say apart from we are division 7 league champions after going on a 20 game unbeaten streak, winning 16 games, drawing 4 and only losing 2, scoring 86 goals and only conceding 38, absolutely exceptional season and it’s been a pleasure to be apart of it, the boys have well and truly made a name for themselves and all of us here at the club couldn’t be prouder, they’ve battled every single game and somehow come away with the points in some games and to me that defies champions, we have absolutely 12 of the most amazing boys and deserve this moment today was a very hard game to get over the line but the boys found a way to do it. The development these boys have shown in just 2 seasons is truly incredible they’ve reached 3 finals, gaining back to back promotions, winning the future legends tournament and today making the statement of winning the league, proud as anything for use boys and today I may have shed a tear but the happiness today brought you is absolutely priceless and use have done that, keep doing use and everything else will be fine.

Want to say a massive thankyou to my assistant coach Dave for coming over at the beginning of the season and helping with the development and making a difference.

I want to say thankyou to all the parents for the commitment and the support for the season.

And also want to thank the lads that make this all happen

Well well well the boys were up against it today with just 2 games left of the season and needing 2 wins to secure the league but no matter the outcome these boys right there have proved everything and have had a fantastic season regardless but we do believe now. The game was end to end and scrappy for the first 5 mins then Elliot Airey stepped up with a solo run and broke into the box and slotted home then Belmont scored a worldie from outside the box, that didn’t phase willo as they found a goal straight after where Harry Marshall played a through ball where Elliot latched onto it and tucked home again, Belmont broke shortly after that and made it level pe***ng going into half time. Coming of at half time the boys wanted this so bad and started strong 💪 with some changes, Lucas played a sensational ball over the top where Olly Rowton took it around the corner and tapped it in to an empty net, Belmont then went onto level the scoring again, but we didn’t stop, Ollie sproat was failed outside the box where he stepped up for the free kick and smashed it home from about 25 yards out, sensational free kick, Olly Rowton when onto to score his second off the match when he was then failed inside the area, keeper got a hand to it but the power well and truly beat him. Belmont then got a penalty with 10mins to go but missed the target but they shortly got a goal not long after to just keep us narrowly in the lead the boys dug in and managed the game, Belmont got a free shot in the last minute that went through about 10 boys in the box and how Jaxon saved it I will never no but what a save and possibly save off the season and secured the win for the blues and to make it 19 games unbeaten with one game left of the league season. Absolutely incredible from all of them and never have I seen a bunch of lads work so hard for each other.

Man of the match was a very difficult one today but I had to give it to Mr Rowton for only his second game all season upfront and got himself 2 goals and worked his socks of upfront and was just a handful for there players all game, but taking nothing away from anyone else they all played a massive part in today’s victory so well done boys.
