⚽️ Players Wanted for Ivy House FC ⚽️

Due to multiple long term injuries and work schedules we’re looking for new players to join the squad. We’re currently playing in League 4 of the Sunderland Sunday League.

Training is held every Tuesday from 7pm to 8pm at Silksworth 3G.

All positions are open but we are looking for a good standard of player to improve the team, not just make numbers up.

Very good group of lads, no dramas or bickering amongst eachother.

Feel free to drop the manager a text on 07528385947 or message us on Facebook.

Ivy House 2-0 Whiteleas United

Match abandoned in the 78th minute due to an opposition player suffering a bad injury.

Just going to keep it short and sweet out of respect. Lads played great despite having 13x there, and making 3x subs due to injuries.

Whiteleas have already asked for the match to be replayed.

Hope the lad is alright, we’ve been on the receiving end of it last season and it’s gut wrenching.

The Chesters FC 2-3 The Ivy House

Another big 3 points in the bag today, as a tenacious Ivy performance sees the lads secure another win.

The first half saw plenty of Ivy action, with Owen having the ball in the back of the net, only to be called offside. More on him later...

The Ivy backline was again consistent and solid, managing to hold The Chesters back, following the trend of the last few weeks.

Owen then put the lads 1-0 up, followed not too long after by Nath Stewart to make it 2-0.

HT: 2-0

Jack McMahon once again was a standout performer throughout both halves, running the game from central midfield.

A lapse in the last ten minutes saw The Chesters pull two goals back, levelling it at 2-2 in the final minutes.

Not to be outdone, Owen once again found himself in front of goal, and with practically the last kick of the game, made it 3-2 to The Ivy in the most dramatic of fashions!

And ignoring the fact that teams below us have multiple games in hand, we now find ourselves sitting top of the league. A wise man once said “Let’s get carried away man” 🍻

Ivy House 1–0 Whitburn

A battling display from a depleted Ivy side saw us take all three points at King George’s Park.

Midway through the first half, Jack McMahon struck from distance, catching the keeper off guard as it crept into the bottom corner.

Ivy pushed for a second, with the Whitburn keeper making several strong saves — including a brilliant stop from a Conner Stoddart header. At the other end, Morgan and Mikey were immense, keeping Whitburn at bay.

Late on, a rare lapse gave Whitburn a 1v1, but stand-in keeper Mez saved superbly to preserve the lead.

A few late flare-ups summed up Whitburn’s frustration before the whistle confirmed a deserved win.

Best of luck to Whitburn, great group of lads and looking forward to the reverse fixture.

Almost a year ago since one of our players suffered the worst leg break medically possible. After several surgeries, a few metal rods, and what probably seemed like a lifetime of physio, he stepped back on the pitch last night.

What this bloke achieved is remarkable and the sheer determination to get through it is inspiring. On behalf of all the lads, it’s fu***ng brilliant to have you back, Dave. Part of our foundations and a daily reminder of how much this team means to us on and off the pitch.

The Ivy House 2-2 The Guidepost

First game at our new home ground of King George’s Park and it’s exactly how we all remember it 🐕💩🏟️

A feisty game sees a 10 man Ivy House come away with a well deserved point against a side battling at the top end of the table.

Inside the first few minutes, Conner Stoddart found himself with space inside the area, firing past the goalkeeper to give The Ivy the lead.

After around 20 minutes, Layton Taylor received his marching orders for retaliation, after receiving a kick to the chest which can only be compared to that of Gerard Butler's character in 300. Despite this, only Layton was sent off, to the bemusement of anyone with more than a single brain cell.

A mix up at the back saw The Guide capitalise and bring themselves level going into half time.

HT: 1-1.

An equally as feisty second half saw a player for each side go off injured after a hard collision. The opposition player received a yellow for the challenge while crippled on the sideline. Ruthless from the ref. Nath attended A&E and despite his foot swelling to the size of his thigh, somehow hadn’t broken anything. Biggest complaint from him was sitting on the floor of Sunderland Royal for 2 hours 😂

Jamie Todd capitalised on a scruffy phase of play with 15 minutes to go to put us 2-1 up, with the 10 man Ivy House good value for the lead.

With around 10 minutes left, The Guide scored their equaliser from a ball into the box which we failed to deal with.

Overall, a very even game sees the points shared between two determined sides.

Best of luck to The Guide, always good to see another local team up there fighting for the league.

Jarrow Crusaders 2-3 The Ivy House

A huge win on the road against league leaders Jarrow Crusaders, who don’t concede many goals.

The Ivy started brightly, with Daley going close early on, before a strong defensive display saw us reach half time at 0-0.

Daley broke the deadlock in the 53rd minute, and Nath Stewart doubled the lead soon after. Jarrow hit back to make it 2-1, but Conner Stoddart restored our two-goal cushion from a corner.

Despite a late Jarrow free-kick making it 3-2, The Ivy held firm thanks to a brilliant team effort and superb goalkeeping from Scott Cain.

A massive three points against top opposition.

Best of luck to Jarrow for the rest of the season, and we look forward to welcoming you in the reverse fixture to repay the hospitality shown to us today. 👊⚽

Ivy House 0-4 The Bridge FC

A loss sees us exit the cup.

Always going to be an uphill battle playing against a team 4 divisions above us, but really happy with the lads today. Back line was solid, midfield battled for every ball throughout the game and were passing around brilliantly, forwards worked their arses off, etc. Just wasn’t meant to be.

Went into HT 0-1, could’ve easily been level or winning with the amount of chances we made, but wasn’t our day.

They’re a well established team with some great players and the lads can certainly walk away with heads high. Some great positives to take away.

Best of luck to The Bridge in the cup, hopefully go on and win it 🏆

FULL TIME: The Ivy House FC 2-0 Velocity the Times Inn

Back to back wins! After last weeks good result, this morning the lads looked to continue our good form, and we certainly did that.

From the off the lads dominated possession and had many spells of excellent attacking football, eventually our constant pressure paid off. We were rewarded with a goal via Jake McDermott after the keeper parried a shot into his path and he slotted home neatly. Velocity never really looked like scoring besides a multitude of through balls that were called offside. Full credit to our defence for maintaining a perfect line!

HT:1-0

More of the same in the second half, the lads enjoyed long periods of possession and attacking football as we looked for our second goal. Eventually we found our outlet as we were awarded a free kick from the edge of the box. A moment of genius from Jakn seen the ball go directly under the oppositions jumping wall and roll low into the bottom corner for his brace.
FT-2-0

A great all round performance from back to front!

Clean sheet✅
+3 Points✅

FULL TIME: Chester Le Street United 1-3 The Ivy House FC

After a poor performance last week the lads are back to winning ways 🥳

Couldn’t have asked for a better start scoring our 1st goal within the opening minutes. An unbelievable outside of the foot pass from Rye Savage fell perfectly for Ben Jenkins to d**k it past the keeper and slot it into an empty goal.

Ivy House then doubled our lead after a brilliant effort from club captain Robbie Dale which saw us head into HT with a comfortable 2-0 lead.

The lads then decided to try set a new record for the lowest shot conversion rate in Sunday league history 🤦🏼‍♂️😂 Could’ve easily had 6 or 7 but just couldn’t seem to find the target.

Chester Le Street pulled one back with 10 minutes remaining, leaving the managers arses nipping firmly.

The Ivy successfully hit them on the counter and scored our 3rd with the last kick of the game.

Defence were outstanding today, and despite missing several key players we still managed to dictate the majority of the game.

Best of luck to Chester Le Street for the rest of the season
