Dollar is 24 and doesn’t she look incredible ! 💵😍

She’s recently had her shoes removed, as the whole shoeing process had become quite stressful for her and required sedation each time.

Despite that, Dollar is still happily hacking out a few times a week, just needing a little extra protection on the stony ground. 🐴

Inca had a visit from Charlotte at Hoof Boots NE this morning for some boots for her back feet, and I would happily recommend the service!

A couple of weeks ago, Inca went dog lame on her back feet! She's very uncomfortable on even smooth concrete, and only soft grass gives her any relief.

As Inca has EMS she has already been checked by the vet to make sure it was nothing sinister like laminitis. The vet confirmed she has bruised soles on her back feet, and the treatment is similar to us after wearing uncomfortable shoes, rest and it will heal.

However, Inca needs some work to keep the weight off and manage her EMS, and there isn't enough hoof wall on her back feet to nail shoes to, so it was a tricky situation all round 🤔

Charlotte attended this morning and tried various hoof boots on Inca. She explained the benefits of each type, what would work best for Incas situation, how pads work and the best types to use for comfort, and we even got a discount code (i say we, her mum is buying them, but I do love a bargain!) 😆

Can't recommend Charlotte enough and should any of my luni-toons need boots, I'll be bugging Charlotte first (sorry in advance!)

Benny had his shoes removed a few weeks ago to begin his barefoot journey after repeatedly losing them, then standing on a clip 😳🐴

At first, he was incredibly footsore, as you can see in the first video.

But pairing the Equine Fusion Ultra Jogging Shoe with some of my wool pads made a huge difference ✨
The second video shows just how much more comfortable and confident he is moving now. 🪄

💙 Kitty & her Flex Boots 💙

Kitty was fairly well behaved for her fitting with Charlotte and we determined that the flex boots would be the best fit for her. Ordered from the Hoof Boot shop, I loved being able to choose the colours and they arrived very quickly. After putting these on, Kitty has been a lot more comfortable out on the stony tracks near our yard and I've seen a change in her attitude too, with her confidence much improved on recent weeks.

Flex Boots are aimed at horses that need protection but still benefit from staying as close to barefoot biomechanics as possible -

So just over 6 weeks ago Robbie pulled not just one of his front shoes but 3 in total 🤦‍♀️. He had also been a bit reluctant to go out for a hack on his own which is very unlike him so I thought he must be telling me something so he's been on holiday for the past 6 weeks. He's been 100% sound without his front shoes and pads on and so I think having the nails in his arthritis hoof has started to become too much.
After a quick chat to our farrier about a plan, I got him fitted with hoof boots on Monday which arrived the following day from The Hoof Boot Shop. We finally got out for a hack this evening and he's back to his old self again I'm so pleased as I didn't think he was quite ready for retirement ☺
