Sunderland City kicked off the new season in style with a convincing 3–1 victory over Barge & Barrel in the opening fixture of the campaign.
City started the game brightly and took the lead through Ryan, who confidently converted a penalty to give Sunderland City the perfect start. The lads continued to dominate possession and create chances, and their hard work paid off when Scott produced the goal of the game, smashing home an absolute rocket to double Sunderland City’s advantage.
With confidence high, Sunderland City continued to push forward and were rewarded with a third goal from Matty, making it 3–0 and putting the game beyond doubt.
Barge & Barrel managed to grab a late consolation goal, but it did little to spoil what was an excellent all-round performance from Sunderland City.
A brilliant start to the season, three points on the board, and plenty of positives to build on going forward.
